Does anyone have an insurance company they would recommend for short-term disability? I have long-term through my work but they don't offer short term.

I am very interested in knowing this also... AFLAC as it was explained to me will pay a certain dollar amount depending on the injury. For example...a broken femur is worth X amount of dollars, a torn acl is worth X amount. I asked the AFLAC representive, "so basically its just like insuring body parts," she said "yes." This was under a privatly purchased policy, it may be different if it is employer provided. I hear its a good investment.

Aflac should have an income replacement policy, I have Combined insurance through my job, $1500 a month to me, they paid a surgical benefit, broken bone, MD visit, ER visit, physical therapy. Over 5 months I got about $8800 out of them.

The AFLAC rep told me they would pay if not racing "pro." Definatly read the contract. I was told the "income replacement" was only available on employer paid policies. As an individual, just as I said ONE payment per injury.

AFLAC paid for my acl injury, I'm not a pro. I think it really depends on what your contract says.
