I just wanted to say bike/quad racers are the best. While prerunning one of my sections of the 1000 course I broke a chain which managed to mess up a few links. I did not have enough parts to fix it.

I started early in the morning and the first person to come along was one of the Aussies on the KTM team. He stopped and I gave him a message to give my chase crew. He marked my spot on his gps and continued on his way.

Pretty soon more bikes started showing up and every single rider stopped to check if everything was ok. I was able to piece the chain back together with parts other riders were able to give me. I swapped a masterlink for some spare gas with a couple of riders. I hope that helped them make it all the way through matomi.

I also had quite a few prerunner buggies and trucks pass by me. Only one of the 10 or so that went by actually stopped. I wish I knew who they were because they were actually some stand up guys. Not one of the other trucks or buggies even slowed down while passing. Pretty lame if you ask me.

I am proud to be a part of the racers that actually look out for each other! Baja bike and quad racers are the best!

Well said my friend! I often have wondered why the bond with handlebar guys is so much stronger than steering wheel guys and the only conclusion I have come up with is that, much like the bond that the military has with one another, bike and quad guys are closer to injury and death than the car guys and I believe that this makes that bond much stronger and more important.

I have spent 2 hours helping one of Larry Ragland's guys get unstuck from a rookie mistake ending up in a creek below and when we saw them later at Mama Espinoza's not one of them bought us a beer or said thanks. Their not all bad but I agree that the moto bond is much stronger.

Although it may mess up my pre run, I always stop. The friends that you make are always worth the time!

BTW, two master links, one center link and an aluminum press tool will fix any chain misshap.

Cheers!
