Stripped Oil Filter Cover Bolt - Best Fix?

I've read every post on this issue and I can't figure out what to do. Should I use the Helicoil method? Run a bolt through the back-side? What's this "ball" everyone is mentioning? I took to side cover off already. Looks like there's an insert in there, but that would be too easy. Please help, I wanna ride! Bronco.
