YZ426F is my first

Hey Everyone!

My name is Randy, and my 2000 YZ426F is first bike. She's an animal and I really enjoy her. I'd like to make some new friends in the motocross/enduro world. Any help, thoughts, or commentary would be appreciated. I enjoy running flat out, and trails...The mud bogs are the best too!

Having owned a 426 since Jan (first M/C since a break of 28 years) all I can say is enjoy, I never thought that one kick could bring such a broad smile to my dial ?. Hope you find some riding friends out your way.

Have to haves alternates are h/bars, clutch basket (I have a rocket basket cost $120 US, works like a charm) and a Scotts steering damper

I'm on the other side of the Pacific, U.S. Navy stationed in Atsugi, Japan. Theres only a few of us big bike guys here. The locals are into 80's and 125's. They think me (YZ400F) and my buddy(YZ426F) are nuts. The sport in general will get you plenty of friends Randy. My advice, keep your bike (locked up of course) in your truck whenever you can. You'll meet many that way. They'll ask you where you ride alot. Invite them along, or they may invite you to come where they're going. And help people out (tools/parts/rides/whatever)whenever you can, it'll always come back to you in spades. It's the friendliest sport I know.

Wow what a bike for a first bike! I have owned mine now for about 3 months, 4 races and lots of rides with my 11 year old son and I am just now reaching the point where I don't feel intimdated when I strap it on. I live in Northeast Oklahoma, and 3 of the local tracks here are getting together and having an event they are calling the Ironman, 3 days starting tomorrow, 3 different tracks, and all the points add for a total win. I was planning on attending but I'm now having second thoughts, my short old fat body is having trouble with these 105+ temperatures and the sunday race starts at noon... ughhhhh!!! I'm gonna try to go tomorrow night and see if me and the bike can take it and then decide about the other 2 races...

Sorry to see your having troubles with your 426 Too! I've been fighting an overheating issue since I got the bike, but I think I've resolved it. Never been to Europe before. I bet the terrain is awesome! I just put a set of Renthal bars on her tonight, and added a set of bark busters. I hope to have a picture of her online soon. Do you MX or Endro? I'd like to try an Endro soon. Hopefully I can find someone to teach me how to ride so I don't develop any bad habits. Kinda ridin' by the seat of my pants, if you know what I mean....

Hey Mike!

Don't feel bad...I've taken a couple of dumps already, and am earning my battle scars. I love the 426. I couldn't of bought a better bike. Im starting to feel more comfortable with her, but she still reminds me at times who the boss is! God Bless you in your shootout! Ride safe, and enjoy. Don't worry about the weight issue, the bike will take it off for you. Just relax and enjoy. I never realized how fun a dirtbike really is...

Its nice to see Father, and Son together on something as clean and inspiring as working and racing dirtbikes! May God watch over the two of you, protect you, and help you enjoy your time together! Thanks for responding!

Hey Paul!

Just put a new set of Renthal Hand Bars on the bike, new grips, and a good set of bark busters. Man what a difference. I know its not much, but it beats the stock bars hands down! I have a kick stand coming from 2 Dads designed specifically for the bike, and I want to put a pipe on her! She's all decked out in graphics, and ready to go! Had her out on the trail the other night, and in some mud bogs. Great riding!

Your right, one kick, and its a smile every time. That was the first thing I learned about the YZ...how to start, and how not to...

Well, here's my ride report for the ironman challenge, round one started last night and the evening started with a record high temperature of 108!!! I ended up taking third, the bike did great, now I'm heading out the door for round two tonight at another track. Haven't checked the weather yet but I've been outside servicing the bike all morning and it's already hot...

Hello Randy,

I'me happy to see you are fascinated with the bike (just like I was when I received her brand new).

I mostly enduro, in fact, i've never tried to mx or motocross.

What I most like to do is to enjoy the terrains where I go and my country is excelent in this matter. I'm not so competitive, i'm thin but I don't work out...

Please take my advice: try the enduro because it's the most beatifull of all the bike sports - specially if you go to places with a variety of terrain (lakes, rivers, mud, hills, valleys, etc).
