I have a new piston.

I have taken the cam cover off and found tdc compression.

Before I break the timing chain. How do I lock the timing so there is no chance of the crank moving.

ktm 250 excf.

Doesn't the 2007 EXC-F have the new RC4 engine (guessing your bike from earlier posts)

If you have that one, there is no need to break the chain to do a top-end. There is a crank-locking bolt on the right side of the engine (the one with a thick washer)

I think the RC4 is similar to the engine the re-build here, at least when I compare it to the repair manual for the 250EXC-F

Use crank locking bolt (remove washer, reinsert bolt). Details are in the service manual. Can download on here http://www.freepdfma...e-repair-manual This is for 2003, but as far as I know the procedure is the same for the rc4 engine.
