So what's the verdict on the exhaust side passenger peg eliminators? Are they a bad idea since they change the exhaust mount from a soft to a hard mount? I thought I read that some people using them ended up with cracked subframes. Are these isolated incidents or a common occurrence with the eliminator?

I've been running mine for a year or 2 no issues yet. I do believe the E is a rigid mount and I don't recall hearing issues with them.

I just cut and shaped the stock mount to keep the rubber grommet in there.

Like BrandonCA , I cut and reshaped mine , it looks like mickey mouse now . But even if you rigid mount it to the subframe , the exhaust is a slip fit , so it isn`t a rigid member and will have some play . If you do get rid of the passenger pegs , I would get the eliminator as you can reuse your pegs later on . I was informed , after cutting mine , that they sell for a good price and can get you a good amount of pizza and beer :smirk: In Queensland , Australia , where I live , you can get cheaper registration by going as a single seat bike , so no passenger pegs and seat strap = half price registration , greg

I'd trade you my cut down passenger peg/bracket an extra $20 and I'll pay shipping both ways in exchange for for your intact passenger pegs.
I cut mine down to maintain that bushing and not take a chance of muffing things up, but now i really need the pegs on there (my wife decided she want's to give 2up a shot).
If your interested in trading, shoot me a PM.

I've been running one on mine since just about new when I bought it a couple of years ago and haven't had any issues at all with it for over 5000 miles.

non issues here after 10,000 miles plus with one. the only down side is if you want to put your ppass. pegs back on you have to loosen your exhaust, but no big deal

Huh? I don't mean to hijack this thread, but you gotta explain to me what the governmental logic is in restricting a motorcycle to only one passenger. I've never heard of this and, frankly, don't see what it accomplishes. Thanks.

Cracked Subframes, wow! That's a wild one.. All good here, 8000+ and still trucking.. Burned runs one on his:worthy:, and that is the exhaust master.. We would of all got that info by now. I kept my rears P's. You will always find some people asking if anyone has extra Passenger pegs here, for free after they cut/ hack/machine:bonk: theirs. All I know is that I'll spend the $30 rather than go through the hassle. I have an extra used one BTW.

We have what is called compulsory third party insurance , CTP . This covers anyone injured in a motor vehicle accident , that is not the driver . If you only have a single seat , then you do not have a passenger that could be hurt . So the rego goes from $480.00 to $170.00 australian dollars , sweet as ! greg
