Does anybody know anything about electric motorhome jacks? Had one go bad last night:banghead::foul:. Fortunately, I have a spare one. Mine has a couple gears and a worm drive (save the jokes). I believe that a "groove pin" is sheared or one of the gears is chewed. The company that makes them does not make a repair kit and will not say who makes the parts for the jack. the maker is ATWOOD MOBILE, and the jack system is called LEVELEGS. Any help would be appreciated.:worthy::ride:

Is this a mechanical jack or a hydraulic jack?

I've had the hydro ones rebuilt (nothing more to them than a bottle jack, really), but never dug into the mechanical ones.

Hey CH, just got back from the TT dez meet. The jack is electric (mechanical) and not hydraulic). I somehow got it out of error mode, manually retracted them, and they worked this past week. I now think that it is not the jack, but some electrical issue that only pops up once in a while. Any ideas? This is the second time in the last month that I get this issue.

Like any electrical issue maybe start a systematic check for grounds, shorts and check clean and tighten any connectors you can find. An ohm meter will be a big help. Is the controller replaceable by itself? Maybe the controller is messed up inside. Did you contact the manufacturer yet? Good like.

I concur....start at the jack connector, and work backwards in search of a short, open, etc.

Also, something else....if it starts to do it again, I'd rig up a jumper wire directly from the batter to the jack and see what happens.....if the jack operates properly with the jumper wire but will not with the controls, that rules out the jack as the malfunctioning component.
