My pw50 just had a carb clean, oil change, lubed cabels and fresh gas!
Starts up with a few adjustments I made on the carb, but when I put it in run, It goes full speed ahead!
I checked the throttle cable and havent had any luck!
I disconnected the swith behind front fender and the same problem. I searched the forum and used all yall's advice.
I disconnected the top of the carb and check the needle! I think its my problem. Im currently on 2nd notch position and I tried 1st and 3rd. same problem.......Help me guys. what else to check????? Or has anyone had this problem! I guess I will tinker around more tommorow. I wana figure this out!

Needle has nothing to do with a run away bike.....sounds like the throttle is stuck wide open or your idle is set way to high

make sure the slide in the carb is in correct

not saying its not correct without seeing it but it can go in 2 ways if I remember correctly....I think i remember doing the same thing on our pw..try turning the slide 180 degrees and see if it slides all the way down......if its all the way down now its probably in right

stick your finger into the inlet side of the carb if you cant feel the slide its in 180 backwardsif you can feel it the idle screw could be screwed in to far un screw it all the way out until it almost falls out then restart the process my bet is the reverse slide Brad

Ok, so the slide is not all the way down! The screw is turned all the way out! I am a first timer doing this. I am assuming the slide should be all the way down and moving freely?
Well its not! I do not have a tool to losen the rectange shaped screw on the other side of the card!

Any help?????

Im pisst off

The beveled cut on the bottom of the slide needs to point to the rear. The slide should have a groove from top to bottom on one side and there should be a pin or tab in the bore that the slide fits into. That keeps the slide from rotating.

I have it all in the rite direction. It still does not want to slide in all the way down. the top of the slide is flush with the top of the carb. Its obvious it needs to go in further, the needle still has room to drop down. I may go out and get a new slide, I dont know what else it can be. Is that piece in the back of the carb that the slide lines up with replacacble? that may be making it stick and not drop down.

was it put together when you got it? twist the throttle. what happens? pull the slide out of the carb does the cable move freely? take the carb off again and remove the slide from the cable see if the slide will slide down into the carb body. look at the needle is it bent theres a small opening where the needle will slide into the main jet nozzle. if the needle is bent it probably wont enter the nozzle. does the slide have any excess wear ? twist the throttle with the slide out does it pull in and release it should throw about an inch or so. i still think the slide is the culprit. it has to be perfectly timed or it wont slide down you should be able to insert the slide into the body and twist it cc or ccw while pressure down and it should drop in if that doesnt work i always work alittle better after i've thrown something or kicked the dog good luck Brad

Needle is not bent but my slide has a little rough mushed edge where the idle screw should hit it. Im gonna san it a bit and see what happens. I bought it used and its my first carb tear down. I have been on the forum a million times, all your advice definatly helped me! Thanks buddies......Off to mess around with it some more.......
By the way, the only thing I been kicking back has been some BREWS! BOOOya

Are the cable adjustments set too far? Typically there's one on top of the carb slide and one near the throttle tube. I'd start by turning these all the way in to see if it alleviates the problem.
It's also possible that your cable is the wrong one and is holding it open.

I got it!!!!!
The slide had a little bump on it , probably from me sliding it in the wrong way. I sanded it down and now she drops in smoothly!
Im currently cleaning the carb again!

Let you know how it turns out! Thanks
