I have just recently started going back to the gym and doing some weight lifting. My program has me going three times a week with exercises that work each major muscle group with 2 sets of 15 reps. I have gained about three pounds over the last two weeks which is a concern for me. I am a Marine and need to keep my body weight under 219lbs, I am currently at 216lbs. I have always kept up with my cardio by either swimming a mile or running at least three miles two to three times a week. I am assuming that my current weight gain is coming from water retention and need to know if this will level off in the next week or so and then my body weight will adjust back to normal. Any help would be appreciated.:worthy:

Thanks,
Dan

Hey mate.

Hard to tell the full story when u dont talk about what u were doing before, and how it all sums up to what u do now.

Well, keeping it short, as a guy i know that is a pro bodybuilder once told me, if u eat more than u burn , u will gain, if u eat less, u will loose weight. At the time i tought it was to simple, but the more i think about it, the more sense its makes. Could do all the magic i want with setups, repange, cardio and restpauses, but it all boils down to intake and amount being burned.

Whats ur stats mate, what do u eat, how much, how often, any changes there since u started working out ?

Isn't there a procedure for guys who are outside of the allowed range? Like they send you in, check your body fat, if you're at an acceptable body fat they leave you alone till your next weigh in?

15-rep sets aren't a typical mass-building routine. Can you work some more cardio into your routine?
Cut out the salt. I'm sure you've got little control over what goes into what you're eating, but avoid the stuff you know has lots of salt. Salt will make you retain water.

How tall are you? Have you checked your body fat? Which method? Are you keeping track of BF%? Do you have access to something that can measure body H2O%?
