Hi Guys,

Just an FYI...

The other day the flasher on my bike died, so... since I have LED turnsignals... I was just going to mail order a new one that was known to work with LED's. But... on my way home from my shop, I needed to stop into Pepboys for a few things. While I was there, I looked at the flashers they had. There were a few on the wall that said LED on them... but they were all +3 wire units. There was one 2 wire unit that caught my eye. It was an LF12. the package said it was a "variable load" flasher, and since it was only $9... I figure I would give it a try.

I'm happy to say, it works just fine with LED's, and as a bonus... it's an extra loud flasher, and I can even hear it clicking with the bike running.

It's easy to pick out as it is the only unit with a yellow housing.

I don't know if this info is out there already, but I just thought I would pass that along to help out others.

I found one at Kragen in a yellow housing with a different part number but all that matters is that it is a variable load 2 prong.

LF12 is the part number... but I looked on Triton's website, and I didn't see it. It may be discontinued.

they do have one marked specifically for LED's though. that part number is LED04. It is still a 3 wire unit... but the 3rd wire comes out the top, and has a screw terminal for a frame ground. Otherwise, it has 2 blade connectors on the bottom like the LF12.

Yes, I was just there yesterday to get some zip ties and looked at the number for you all. It is a FL552. It is yellow transparent plastic variable load with two prongs marked with an X and a - symbols.

Well I went and picked up the LF12 flasher control and it isn't working on my bike. The LED turn signals come on when selected but don't flash. It did the same thing with my other flasher unit which I thought was bad. Any ideas of what is causing this?????

Thanks

you might not have enough draw and need an ic relay....I have rears that have 20+ leds in them, they flash fast but still flash.

$22.95 from Wheeling Cycle Supply.

Another thought, so that you KNOW your signal is on. Wire a big ugly incandescent bulb in line. It will give you a lot of resistance to help your leds pull.

As an alternative, they make a resistor that'll slow them down. I picked up a rumble pack resistor that mounts up behind the edge license plate mount Perfectly.

On mine they come on and stays lite while selected. They work as advertised except for the blinky part:) Goebz, thanks for the idea. I might even give a company like superbrightled a call and see what they think. I just want to figure it out without throwing a bunch of parts at it....

Now you can finally fix the flash rate on your motorcycle with our unique Plug And Play solution! That's right, our Electronic LED Flasher relay directly replaces the stock flasher relay on most Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki motorcycles by plugging directly into the harness in place of the OEM flasher relay! See the compatibility list.

For motorcycles with nonstandard two wire flasher relays (not on compatibility list), this flasher relay can still be used by removing the connector and hard wiring it. Even three wire flasher relays can be replaced if one of the wires is a ground wire.

This unit is guaranteed to replace any two-wire flasher relay and operate at the normal DOT blink rate for motorcycles with stock blinkers, LED blinkers, or any combination of both, provided the total load on the system is within 0.05A to 10A (0.6 Watts to 120 Watts!) - which basically covers the majority of blinker products on the market!
