I've been doing more research, looking for a way to move the power down some in the RPM range.

Has anyone tried Kawasaki's "optional" reeds? (part number 12022-1087)
V-Force?
Moose Torque Spacers?
Exhaust spacers?
Any aftermarket pipe?

What did you think?

Are you trail riding or MX? I put a FWW, FMF pipe and silencer, and reed block spacer on our KX65 and it works well on the trails for my son. We didn't try a different reed so I can't comment on that. Other than some port/head work I really don't know what you could do.

Trail riding. We've got a 12oz FWW on it and right now a washer in the exhaust. Winter's coming, so now is an ideal time to make any changes since we won't be riding too much, if at all.
I'll give the reed spacer a shot, do you know, how thick is yours?

Hmm... their site is awful.

I'm going to try my hand at making a reed spacer and exhaust spacer. I don't think it'll be too difficult.

I also sent an email to Eric Gorr about having a spare cylinder ported. It might be a mixed blessing, that also needs bored and plated.
I'll post back what he has to say.

Eric also recomends turning down the base of the cyl 1mm and cutting the
recess in the head 1mm. We did this to out RM65 for woods use and it works
good. Only cost me $75 at a local motor shop.

I was going to ask him about this, if it's part of his $130 service or not. He hasn't gotten back to me yet though.

I hear V Force reeds help as well. Moose Torque Spacer, exhaust spacer, PC pipe is what I did and pre 06 bikes you can alter the timing manually.

I did those, it helped but not that much. I found the PC pipe worked the best for low end. The FMF literally did nothing. the FMF made it a bit broader and running a 14/48 also helped make it generally more rideable with less shifting and less wheel spin if you ride in the mid range more. It will bog if you are really low in the rpm's.

Moose also sells a thin base gasket .012 I think that raises compression which helps low end performance.

Thanks. Definitely gonna check into the moose thin gasket. So much cheaper than a machine shop turning down the barrel and reversible to boot!
You rock, good gas coming your way.

Ok, next question. I'm betting the cylinder on my 60 (while sold during the same time, is the same part # as the 65) has been ported for a kiddie racer. Does anyone have a port map for a KX/RM 60/65 I can compare it to? I have a spare cylinder, but it's pretty bad, rust all over, needs bored/plated so I'd prefer not to compare it to that.
