94 indy xlt rebuid?

hey i am looking at a 94 indy xlt in good shape but i am wondering what kinda mileage one should expect before needing a rebuild and what's the cost to rebuild one of these older things?  thanks for the help hope to get into sledding this winter for the first time...

Well, the XLT's are kind of a special one, seemed like if you got a good one it was good for 7-8K miles, if you got a bad one you normally were around 7-800 miles. Biggest concern is the crank and crank seals. But normally I would expect somewhere in the 5-6K range between top ends. for a top end you're looking at about $5-600 depending on whose pistons you use and how much the machine shop charges for boring. If the crank goes your looking at about $1300 at least. But they are so common that you can find complete motors on ebay for the price of a top end rebuild.

1 the cranks had a nasty habit of snapping off the PTO end and the clutch flying around in the belly pan and
2. the crank seals tend to leak from time to time and cause lean burn downs.

well thanks for the advice i am going to look at that sled and then a 96 700 rmk...

dont do anything to it leave it stock we piped one like yours and it blew up 3 days later n it had about 2500 miles we werent even riding it hard
