The old school NiteRider waist pack, helmet light.

A whopping 40W of dual Halogen burning into the night!

... and only with a 2.2lb contoured to your body battery, snugly mounted into a waist pack, which only lasted an 1hr and 35minutes. :smirk:

I tell ya, I had this handed to me long ago... and I've powered it up once. I'm sure it'd be a tough day to get NiteRider to send a replacement battery. :D Good thing it comes with 2 spare bulbs! And it's even still in it's original box!

:ride:
(I just thought it'd be fun to share with ya all)

How old school are we talkin? What year(s)?

I was riding with some old farts awhile back that still have some original Malcolm Smith Racing gear - fanny packs made almost entirely of leather. They don't make stuff like that anymore (one of the other guys had upgraded to a brand new Acerbis fanny pack and it busted a hole through the side the first ride).

It would be cool to see other old Baja relics. Bust 'em out!

That Niterider system might seem old school, but to guys in my generation, thats still new school. Old school was the single light, powered by either dual D cell batteries, or a larger battery, often carried in either your fanny pac or the back pocket of your Belstaff jacket.:ride:

JAT, I just broke out my Niterider Classic, same as yours, original in box with 1999 receipt, but has MTB water bottle battery pack and had bicycle handlebar mount. Stopped by Niterider and got helmet mount. Seems to work good though I did not use it this weekend prerunning. Will use it for race though.

FYI, your Airtime HID worked awesome for prerunning Mike's loop saturday night. Gotta figure out how to keep my glasses from fogging up inside my goggles when going slow.

Emphasis on "riding with" or "old farts"? :ride:

Anti-fog stuff to wipe on your glasses or get some goggles that have better ventilation. That leads to more dust inside your goggles though.

My Wiley X supplier recommended and sent a few samples of fogtech anti fog treatment. For myself, I have used rain x but it didn't perform consistantly, or for very long. I've been wanting to test the fogtech samples, so just now, after seeing your post, I did a comparison test with both glass lenses and with polycarbonate lenses and the fogtech appears to be superior. My test method was to coat the lenses, one lens with rainX fog treatment the other with fogtech, shove em into the freezer for a few minutes, take em out and breathe on them. both worked but fogtech was much cleaner, less distortion.

I saw critiques on line from riders who used fogtech on visors. Mostly they liked it and said it would last a few days, but if they got wet then it was not good. So if you use it try not to crash or do anything that would make you hot and sweaty all over your lenses.

another one that got good reviews on line is called cat crap, it's like a soap or wax that you rub on. I saw one reference to it's being available at REI, which might be pretty handy, if you're in san diego.

If you can't find any, and want to try them, maybe there's a way to get you a couple samples of the fogtech.

You got some pics SS? I know you do somewhere in your archives... you old fart you! :smirk:

And I know that light isn't "Ancient", but I'm sure it gets some laughs... and shows how fast technology is changing the sport.

Really? I thought they killed all the threads about it, since it was a "project" turned side biz. Cool... if you need more info, hit me up.

Anyone else with OLD RELIC type lighting pictures??? Can't be "just me" :p
