okay,i just traded my old 88 suzuki LT-230 on a 2000 klr-250. i had known the bike had an electrical problem but for the price i couldnt pass the deal up. the bike is in good running condition as far as the motor and trans. goes. the problem im having is that the lights are very dim, and the tuirn signals are wired backwards... at least thats what i think as of right now. when i turn on the left turn signal switch, the right one comes on. the back ones dont work at all but i believe i know why as well. the real question i have is does the battery being not charged effect the lights? and should the battery become fully charged by just riding it? im not sure if im dealing with a bad charging system,a bad battery, or a bad light. right now the bike starts up first kick and has no lack of power. its just the lights are very dim and not getting any brighter as of right now

Try this.(unless of course you have a DC voltmeter)
Start bike and disconnect one battery lead. Increase engine speed to 2 or 3 K rpm. If lights brighten up then probably charging ok. If ok then check electrolyte in battery and charge up according to info on battery.
