2001 WR42
My manual says idle speed is about 1700 rpm. Do any of you set your idle slower?
Seems to me awfully high for any compression braking on slick rock or other
perilous terrain.

If I try to set the idle down where I think it should be based on my previous
thumpers, it seems to die. Maybe because of the high compression ratio?

Yes you are right. I set mine around 1900 rpm (WR450) they seem to run better with a high idle. :)
