Five weeks back I was driving home from a ride and was hit head on by a guy who had a seizure. My main injuries are to my feet.

My right has at least been in a walking cast. On the left though I had fractures in the 2nd and 3rd metatarsals. They were not displaced at least. Additionally my left Calcaneus had a “crack”. It did not show up in the x-ray but did on the cat scan so I guess it was not too bad. No surgery was done.

Three weeks after I went back and the doctor said the x-rays looked good. He said in two more weeks I could put weight on the left foot until it hurt so he gave me a walking cast. Well that time has come and I can get about 80% on it but then I feel a pinch in my heel. It is not a bad pain and I would definitely put up with it to walk again without a walker but I am very paranoid about doing anything that messes up my recovery. The pain feels like it is in the heal tissue and not the bone but I don’t know for sure. At five weeks of healing is putting my body weight on it going to have any possibility of injuring anything?

Also the foot is still puffy. I sleep with in elevated and if I stay home I am in a recliner. It is not too bad on those days. When I go to my office and it is not elevated it gets more swollen and purplish. I also still can see some bruising on the foot. Is there anyway to get the swelling to go away faster? If my foot did not get swollen and sore when not elevated it would make things easier. He said my bones should be full strength at about eight weeks after injury but at this rate I am wondering if the soft tissue is going to be the last to heal.

Thanks
