I'm sure all the dads out there just love to see your sons out riding and enjoy doing the same thing you do. :ride:
I got my son a 87 PW that had white bodywork and a purple seat, that didn't work for me, so I got new plastic and seat on ebay and ordered up a new sticker kit.

Anyway, a few days ago was his first ride. I was just teaching him throttle control and brakes.. going around cones and just getting use to the feel of the bike for his first time out. Here are a few short videos of him.. I didn't have the throttle open all the way (was almost closed) but he did great for his 1st time. I hope to get the training wheels off in the spring/summer!

Nice job. Just get him some goggles. Bugs in the eye is no fun.

Got some along with boots and FOX chest protector. Figure that he can put that stuff on when the training wheels come off. He loves to put on his gear, and I'm a huge gear nazi! HAHA
Plus here in Ohio it is too cold for bugs to be flying around right now! HAHA

We've still got 'em in PA. Probably all the rain we're shielding from our next door neighbor.

Oh, a while back, I posted something I found in Popular Mechanics. Might help you out. I don't remember exactly how it goes, but they recommend to teach a kid to rid a bicycle w/o training wheels, take the pedals off. Let him push it around like a scooter.
I don't have any kids who have yet to master the bicycle so I never could try it, but I think the same thing would work just as well for a motorcycle. Take the pegs off (PWs use a pin, so it's about a two minute job with just a pair of needle nose pliers), take the training wheels off and let him push it around for a half hour or so. I'd venture to guess that in that time, he'll have a good grasp on how the bike feels and turns without training wheels, so you won't have to wait till spring.

That is fantastic. The training wheels will come off sooner than you think. I have a 5 year old who started on training wheels in January 2009. (the first time the wheels came off he was frozen in fear and would not touch the throttle. Training wheels back on for a bit) He is now 6 years and racing hare scrambles here in South Florida. Boys take to motorcycles. Take lots of pics. Be proud he looks happy and he will love it. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the comments! I'll see if I can take the pedals off his bicycle.. he has a dirtbike bicycle (the cheap one from Walmart) so that might work?? He has just started to ride that without training wheels the other day and didn't do too good.. we'll keep practicing and he will get it. ;)
