I have a new to me bone stock 07 XT225 with 115 miles on it. Oh it has an after market fuel screw & Mikuni BST 34 carb.

It has been sitting awhile and would not idle (clogged pilot jet) so I pulled the carb cleaned the jets and blew out all of the passages with carb cleaner.

The bike idles now but the idle does not come down right away, it kind of comes down slowly and then speeds up and then slows down. It takes about 5-10 seconds to come down to a normal idle after you give it a quick rev.

The fuel screw is out 3 full turns. The jets are stock 40 pilot & 125 main. The bike runs fine other than the idle. No back fires coughs or anything.

What could be causing the idle hang and surging????

I am thinking lean. I have also heard a 42.5 pilot jet is a good upgrade

try turning the idle speed down as low as it will stay idleing consistantly when hot.
