Hi all
I’m not that clued up with electrics so I hope someone can help me.
I’ve been looking for a radiator fan for my ‘08 KTM 250XC, someone told me to try use the fan off a Yamaha R6 road bike as its the right size. I'm doing it mainly to save costs, and I've seen some KTMs boil even with their fan on so looking for something a bit more potent
I’ve managed to track down two of these for me and a mate of mine. Over the weekend he wanted to install it but tested the current that it draws first.
What he found is that the aftermarket fan KTM supplies draws about 2amps, where as the R6 fan draws about 10amp.
We’re not sure if he tested it correctly, but what effect would this have on the stator? As my bike does not have a battery I have to run the fan directly off the stator (with a rectifier). Will this fan not kill the stator if it draws too much power? Will the stator have enough power to drive this fan?
We've got a big race comming up where we'll need those fans to run allot so I'm a bit despesperate.
Thanks
