I was cruising through some bikes at the dealer the other days and comparing my 00 TTR125 to the 09-10 models and noticed on the swingarm it said "made in Brazil".

I've been searching the net looking for where they are made and the only thing I came across was that Honda's were not out-sourcing their bike because of quality control.

Call me sentimental but I miss things made in Japan. They were always top notch in quality and I've loved all the Yamahas I've owned and they've been quite reliable except for finding neutral when hunting second (YZF600).

Is there a website I can go to to see where motorcycles are being currently made, or is this just a TTR125 thing?

I thought I read that some Honda's were made in Brazil too, like the 230CRF. IIRC, it said the street legal version was made in Japan while the off-road version wasn't

It is a possibility that certain parts are made elsewhere and then the bikes are manufactured in japan. I am surprised how it is still affordable for a corporation to do that. It seems like such a waste of time and energy to ship parts of products all around the world.

It's all about logistics and the big picture of invest a little now and reap the payoffs later of reduced labor cost etc. This is happening everywhere in Industry and has for quite some time, now it is growing bigger. Chevrolet & Ford motor blocks made in Mexico for example. The companies all want to maximize profit - it's all they think about - PROFIT.

Honda Goldwing street bikes were made in Ohio up until recently when they sent production back to Japan. Also some Kawasaki Jet Ski's are made in Lincoln, Nebraska.
