Someone suggested for better visibility of gas levels during a race (currently run a 3.2 IMS natural color) to add some pre-mix to the gas to give it a slight color.

Anyone do this? I can see level when fairly full, but hard to tell once it gets into the shroud levels and when racing, don't really want to stop just to check.

Any con's on doing this? I have 1/2 gallon of motorex mix leftover from when I had my 250xc.

maybe a drop of food coloring? i think to get a noticable color you would have to mix enough 2T oil to where you might run into plug fauling/jetting issues.

Try to find a place that sell's "marked" premium (purple gas)
There's quite a few gas stations in BC rural areas selling it now. Great for visibility of gas levels with the purple color and cheaper than unmarked regular
Use it in the bikes and sleds all the time.

it shouldnt hurt. what i do is run lead additive in my four strokes as it increases the life of my valves and tints my gas the correct shade to be visible

The amount you'd need to add to be able to see it would probably be too much for a 4-stroke. Food coloring is probably water based so I wouldn't mix it with gas. Not sure what would work best, though.

Edit. ^^^^ sounds like a better idea.

if you can find purple gas, and they'll let you but it then go for that... At the place where I buy purple gas you need farm plates to get it.
