Hi there just wondering what 250 smoker you think is the best as far as performance on the track or in the trails, maintenance, reliability, or any other reason you may think it is the best out there.
Thanks:ride:

Lets see, the 03-08 RM250's seem to be really good, and since I ride one I had to say that, the KTM smokers are awesome and have many models to choose from, but I would have to go with a newer or new YZ 250 for an all around two stroke that can rip on a track and be a billy goat in the woods. The engine is incredible, it has a well designed aluminum frame, good suspension and Yamaha is still producing them which is a super plus in my book.

Yep, YZ 250's are probably the best all around 2t's. At least the newer ones are.

I didnt really like my 03 cr250 but I love my 07 yz250 and if I could I would buy a brand new yz 250 even if it is basically the same bike

I had an 01 cr 250. My new KTM 250 SX is better (better brakes, much lighter, better turning, smoother power). It's been a long time since I rode a YZ 250.

I like everything about my 07 RM250 except working on it. The quality of this bike just plain sucks compared to my past Hondas.

Just throwing my 2 cents in there but I did a lot of research and the 06 and up YZ 250 seems to be the most respected/bang for buck smoker out there. I've only had mine for less then 6 months but once they are jetted right...the fun begins and it turns into an addiction...just sayin.

for an all round package the YZ is probably the best, KTM definantly has the best engine, ktm brakes are probably the best for both power and feel but honda's are almost as good without the trouble KTM have getting air in the brake lines, honda's also only use 240mm brake rotors while ktms use 260's, and the RM has the best frame*, the stock YZ suspension is generally better then the RM or KTM's, RM's suspension can be made as good for better then a YZ's, KTM's cannot, a KTM engine in an RM frame with honda brakes would be the ideal bike.

for a stock out of the box bike however 06 and up YZ 250.

*TM's frames are actually a lot better then evan an RM, and they're suspension is better then a yamaha's, however they don't hold up well, part's wear out very quickly, the engines are also very pwoerful but not friedly in the power delivery in any way shape or form, they are trick looking bikes though
