Today changed the oil on m yz250f. But when i did it wasnt showing in the crank case window. I was worried about riding it so i took off the crank bolt and no oil came out. My first thought, was that the oil wasnt circulating but than i opened up the oil resivor and oil filter and both had oil in them. How could the crank case not have oil but the other things do?
Hidden oil?

I thought that being a dry sump engine, if it had been run recently you wouldn't get much out of the crankcase.

no engine was cold. started it after changing. smoked a little. turned it off. and still no oil in the crank window. im puzzled. i would figure the crank would be full rather than the revisor or filter.

If that was the case, wouldn't it have even more oil in the crankcase than since he filled it up with new oil?
