I have a scooter to commute and have a 1980 xr200. i want to up-garde to a kx250 2000 or any 250cc road bike 2t or 4t. i can get anything under 250 on a motorcycle liscence. i really enjoy dirt biking though.

The correct question is "Does ANYBODY on this site know how to WRITE English correctly?"

Pretty funny, one of those "Kettle calling the Pot Black" posts from a guy who calls himself motocandyRIDA!!

El Chupacabra

Why not get a nice 250 dual sport bike and have both? Gear it down some for off-roadf and have fun on dirt and pavement.

Sorry, I got off subject earlier. I vote dual sport too. I would think it might be close to heaven after a scooter. If the dirt bug bites you hard enough later you can always trade into that but I think once bitten by the dual sport bug....

I'll third (or is it fourth) the dual sport idea.

Give him a break on the English...their computers type backwards from ours down under.

The RMX is a great bike. No idea if that one is. You'll have to check it out. Also, most of us Northern's don't have a clue as to the laws in NZ.

Go to your local emergency room and ask an on call doctor how many guys on road bikes passed through (or passed away :( )there in the last month, then ask the same question on dirt bikers.. For me the decision is easy, I enjoy living, therefore I ride dirt bikes.

Doesn't ANYONE on this site know how to speak english correctly?

That is a tough call, and it seems as if perhaps not

To the OP....dual sport! You can't go wrong!

the drz 250 is the heaviest of the lot xr 250 around the 115kg mark and the klx and ttr are the same. The drz and klx have electric start which can be handy not sure about the ttr. These bikes are considerably heavier than mx bikes but way more reliable and easy to maintain. You can make them lighter by taking the rear racks passenger pegs off and swapping the stock exhaust and header with a pro circuit or or something similar.
