Ive been wanting to buy a street bike for years now and realy realy wont to buy one. but hear recently ive been wanting to get a new dirt bike.

This street bike i want is a 2007 Harley Sportster 1200. Black Cherry with full Screamin Eagle Exahust. they want a prety penny for it. but idk if i want that more or a newer dirt bike. Ive been riding a RM 125. and if i go with the dirt bike side idk if i should buy a 250 smoker or a 250f.... idk about a 450.....?
in my eyes they both have there ups and downs.

Can u guys give me some opinions on what i should do, or what u would do???
Im stuck inbetween a rock and a hard spot hear.

if you get the harley, the world will know you as a "fa*got". If you're not sure, please refer to the latest "South Park" episode.

haba blubblubblub habablubblubblubblub

ever think about a supermoto? more fun than a harley, and cost is low enough you can buy a supermoto and a nice, used 2 stroke for less than the harley would cost.

just my thoughts.

Are you a rider who thinks having cool new graphics is more important than fresh tires and top end? If so, buy the Harley. Harley's are Poser bikes!!! They are all about image, based on 50 year old technology. If you want to ride down to the local tavern and try to play the "Bad Boy", get a Harley. But even with the Harley crowd, a Sportster is considered a good "Chick" bike, not suitable for a Real Man, therefore the ****** comment. They only have about 50 horsepower!!

Why not get a great street bike AND a new dirt bike for probably less than the cost of an overpriced sportster. As an example, you can buy an 07 Suzuki SV 650, one of the best all around street bikes made with 75 horsepower, that will absolutely smoke the Sportster in every way for performance, for around 4 grand, and a new dirt bike too and still be under 10K.

Your choice, Bad Boy Image on a low-tech low performance motorcycle, or a couple of much better better bikes for the same pricete.

no.. i could care less what graphics or gear i had... if i had any at all. as long as im having fun and enjoying it i could care less.
The reason for me wanting a harley is because i like the way they ride. Ive rode rockets and cant stand being all bent over putin all my weight on my wrists. I like the harley casue i could just sit back and cruss for hours on end. and the whole goin to the taveren thing isnt my style. and no i dont try and be a bad boy image. i just want to ride and have a good time.

I've been riding dirt for about 30 years. Last year I thought I'd try street riding. Unfortunately I didn't like it. I felt it was kind of boring, unless you in the twisties, but then when it got fun I kept finding myself speeding. Cars going wide over the yellow line. People u turning in front of me. Just riding around in the general public felt unsafe. I was able to sell the bike for a 1200.00 dollar loss.

Zuki27 it all depends what >>you<< want! Whats your free time schedule like? Will it be more of the run to the store on your two wheeler and squeeze in a quik ride on the back roads or will it be load the bike, grab the gear and head towards the hills for adventure?

Personally Im not a fan of the over priced HD's and I cant find much enjoyment in riding one but my Brother-in-law & sister on the other hand ride one every weekend and seem to have the time of their lives out riding one.

If it were me and I was having trouble deciding between road or off I would consider a good dualsport to fill both needs. The DRZ someone else mentioned is kind of in the right direction but my buddy rides one and its not really great on or off road. The newer KTM 525 & 530 exc's are a great dual purpose bike but are kind of pricey. I have a XR650R converted to a dually but its still a big bike to work in tight woods.

I guess in the end it will come down to what type of riding & bike suits you better. If you want a Harley, right now seems to be the time to buy because the "cool" crowd has moved on and they are realizing that you have to pretty much give these bikes away to get rid of them now. So think about what bike will give you better enjoyment and your time line while allow you to ride the most and go from there:thumbsup:

a sporster is a wifes bike. harleys in general suck.for what you would pay for that turd you could buy a nice 450 and then get a set of super moto wheels and street ride when you want.

Zuki27 I say buy the Harley, you already have a dirt bike and I think if you can afford it more toys generally = more fun.

I have a 1999 Dyna Glide Sport, bought it new in 1998 and have absolutely no intension of selling it. Over the years I have owned pretty much every type of street bike you can think of Touring bikes, Sport touring bikes, Ninjas, UJMs, Japanese cruises, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and several BMWs. I have literally ridden all over the country and parts of Canada. Every year I look at the new bikes but have yet to see one that I would trade my Harley for.

My Harley is not the fastest or best looking or most chromed out, it is just a basic bike with a few modifications to make the bike fit me and a few custom parts that I made in my garage. Every time I ride it I enjoy it. I still like the way it runs, rides, handles, looks, feels and sounds. It is paid for so now the insurance and registration cost about a buck a day, worth it to me even when I don't ride.

But.... I also have a brand new dirt bike so it is easy for me to say get the Harley.:p
