I am thinking about buying this bike because it's so cheap. They post says it's an '05 but it looks like it has a steel frame. Could you please help me about and tell me what year it is?

the kawasaki smokers never got the aluminum treatment. i highly advise you to pass on that one, for many reasons.

this is what an 05 KX250 looks like.

the frame on the craigs picture is nothing like an 05, and the forks aren't right either.

I think the seller slapped some newer plastics on, probably stolen. The bars look tweaked, and it's certainly been flipped. I'm pretty frugal when it come to buying a machine I'm only going to break in the woods, so I know where your coming from, but you should probably let this one pass. Seems shady.

I agree with the other guys. I'm all about a cheap bike, but let this one go.

Looks like a 97 or 98. Fat swingarm with 94-98 plastics. What's up with the green rotor?

Ha! I have no clue what's going on with the green rotor :bonk: but thanks for all of your help. I think i'll go with you on this one and just pass.

Is that not a 1999 - 2002 radiator shroud?

That left side panel looks like green apple taffy.

You would have to take a close up look at the bike. The seller might take less.

Some comments in this post say to stay away from it for many reasons, but fail to mention one reason.

Others say "shady". Why? Someone is selling an item. What's so shady about that?

The graphics make it look that way, see how the design flows to the seat? Dead giveaway is 1) gray arbox 2) squarish side panels 3) large openings on the side grabs. Only the 97 & 98's had the beefy swinger.

Maybe because the guy thinks it's an 05 and it's about 7 years older than that? I definately wouldn't want to be arguing with that guy. He looks like he's had more pricks in his ass than Clay Aiken at a gay bar.

I would say go for it IF you got the vin checked out, 97's and 98's were great bikes.

Think about it, $700 bucks for an 05??? That doesn't set off red flashing lights for you:busted: that this might be a tad bit on the shady side? And offering this guy less then he's asking might be a good way to lose a handful of teeth.

I have to agree with the others, this is one you want to pass on unless you want to shell out the money for the asking price and then turn right around and rebuild it.

Sure looks like a 98 to me as well.

No front brake stuff except a rotor. Which is painted green? What in the hell? Not to mention the guy sitting on it looks like a total douche silo.
And there's a trailer in the background.

A combination of clues give it away. Obviously it's not an 05, bike has tell tale signs of being abused, and the pictures are terrible. I cannot tell you how many rides i've taken to look at bikes with much better adds that turned out to be toilets in person.

yellownova, maybe I am missing it. Where are you seeing the VIN posted for the bike in question? Thanks.
