A friend bought his 4yr old son a used KTM mini 50sx and his son is afraid of it because it is too fast. Is there anything that can be done to tame it down a bit until he gets the feel for it?

Adjust the clutch, two things you can do, you can re-stack the washers in the clutch to make the "hit" less hard, or you can get springs from the KTM adventurer clutch, this will help, theres several web sites that will help you with this, i would suggest the adventurer springs

mini springs, washer in pipe, change gearing, all will help reduce the hit and improve rideabilty for the little guy and can be tweaked as he get better . hope this helps .

Do a search for the KTM 50 Bible. This is a very good document on the Ktm 50's. I have two of these bikes, change the gear after every ride with ATF tranny fluid, service the clutch, and this bike will last, Its not as bad as everybody says, My son is 7, Ktm is no longer "fast" enough, were now on Polini, very fast.
