I''ve got a 98 kx100 that my dad is rebuilding for me, we have had the engine tuned, getting vforce reed valves and twin air, air filters. I was wondering what is the best silencer to buy to increase the hit on the powerband? FMF Powercore 2 or a FMF Shorty. I already have the SST Fatty Pipe. Cheers Taylor

Run the Power Core. The Shorty is designed to enhace low-end throttle response, but on a small-bore the enhancements are at an rpm level lower than most people actually ride. The Power Core will enhance the power in the range you are realistically going to ride that bike.
FYI, the Rad Valve is much more effective than the V-Force if power gains are what you are seeking. The V-Force doesn't do much more than add a small amount of throttle response in the low-to-mid-range. The Rad Valve, provided you take the time to tune for it, will produce nloticeable power gains nearly across the entire rev range.

Cheers, I just found a Boyesen Rad valve For around £135 GBP. Is that a decent price for this product?

i used to have a kx100 and i ran a fatty pipe w/ a shorty silencer. the shortys are supposed to give you a better hit on the bottom end but i didnt feel much, and i had that thing dialed. so i would say dont go with the shorty, but ask around and see what you hear bout the powercore.

i would have to agree with that you can hear a thumper a long ways

I have shortened 3 silencers, one of those on an 03 kx 85, if you repack it, it will not be noticably louder. Non of the ones that I have done are, but they all recieved new packing, they may have to be repacked more often though.
If you ride on a track that is technical or in the woods the low to mid power range is what is most benificial.
My wife races the 03 85 and I have the SST, Shortened Silencer, V-Force Reed valve and advanced ignition timing. All the rest of the engine is stock. This bike makes incredible Low - Mid power but has little top end. Its a 6 speed - SHIFT!
This may not be the power you are looking for, but if it is this combination works well.
Just my opinion!

Lawl, This post really got outta hand. But im gonna go with the powercore. Im looking for more of a hit on the powerband and more responsiveness. When its done i'll be running, FMF Fatty Pipe, Powercore 2, Boyesen Rad valves. I was wondering if anybody has heard of a rooster bottle? My dad said he used to have one on his crosser when he was 16. Its something to do with a build up of gas in the carb then its let out after its fully built up and it acts like a nitrous kit that just naturally builds up. Hopefully gonna get one of those, and does anybody know where or if i could get a forced induction kit?
