The 25hr race seems to bring the best out of people. Lending parts of their spare bikes, everyone helping everyone else regardless of what team. It's a great thing. This year ShotgunScotts GF was giving up food like a madwoman. Was funny, every time i rolled into our compound the window of the RV would fly open and Valerie would shout, hungry yet and list the offerings. Good stuff. The breakfast samies in the AM were the bomb.

So let's here your great story of giving at the 25hr.

This guy came by my pit and I offered him some hot and tasty home made beef stew that my GF made and he declined:busted:

Wasn't there this year, but the atmosphere always seems to lend itself to that type of comradery.

Last year, one of the fast guys on our team crashed out in the rock garden. Cracked the flywheel cover on his KTM 4-stroke.

He puked oil for the remainder of his lap and came in smoking bad.

Scoot actually had the same year/make/model bike with the motor out down the road at Eddieville.

He made the round trip down there to get it for us...

Saved our teammate's race. And, our finishing spot really... we couldn't have done as well without him on his own bike.

thanks Don but I was already flowing over with Valeries forceful food mart. She was on a mission. I brought back all my food but the pastries Jake sniped. That piping hot stew did look VERY good though. :smirk:

Next year I'm just going to show up. there were extra bikes, places to sleep and food. A poachers dream.

Don't worry about it Mike, I'm just funnin' you and I get them cheap from MSR anyways. Besides, both my oil drain bolt and my rear brake clevis bolt came out of your toolbox!

Not to make this a Kevin Parks thread, but the amount of donations to Parks and to the Centerville School District were amazing.. We have a great community :worthy:

Sorry to burst your bubble Ride, but SJMC_Don has given that title to me. You have to "borrow" all of Trav's Kokanees first:thumbsup:

How about that Lasagna Mike?? You truely are the best poacher and I also heard that at the race this weekend.:p

A cool thing is some guy came around around 3 or so in the morning looking for a WR clutch lever. I gave him my spare and he said he would be back with some money and I told him not to worry about it. I forgot about it and around 9 he showed up and had a $20 in his hand. I declined and he forced it on me anyway. Thats awesome!

Yep, had an issue where my kick start bolt backed out and my starter got hung up engaging the starter gears three quarters of the way down pit lane. this was during the night portion.
Grind, what the heck! Came to a stop to check it out. before I knew it out of no where 2 guys flew over like they were a part of my team asked me if they could help and what I needed. Ran back to their pit got a wrench and tightened it all up for me and I was under way.

Thanks guys! Not sure who you are or what pit you were in. But it is much appreciated.

Dirt Bikers are the best people!

I did something similar for a team pitted next to me at the Vegas to Reno this year. I was waiting for my teammate to come in so I could have my turn, and this guy comes in to his pit next to me and he had crashed hard and the front end was tweaked. They talked about it for a minute as they were putting gas in the bike and saying that he will have to get used to riding with a crooked front end. I went over and did the old "straddle the tire and wrench the bars" and straightened it out. I was back on my tailgate and they had not even noticed me do that. Too funny. As they kept talking about it, I finally piped up and let them know it was straight. He looked and was shocked it was. Huge thanks and off they went. That is another race that is well known for comraderie among entrants, as we needed a bolt to fix something later and one of the truck team crew guys hunted through their huge assortment and found one for me.

last year i had a major clutch issue on my berg, i crashed.... well.. more like tipped over:bonk: and the res cover seal came loose letting in a bunch of dirt. i bummed a entire clean clutch set-up from a friend and proceeded to use up a two containers of mineral oil and two laps of clutch-less riding. try and ride through the house, barn and the rock garden without using the clutch, the doors were brutal.

i had four diff people offer oil, two helping me wrench and one that parted his bike out for mine. i have NEVER been in or around a group of people that are soo willing to help you out BEFORE they even know your name:thumbsup: how awesome!!

i'm really bummed i had to miss the race this year, first time in four years:banghead:

I had a flat tire and had asked for help from the KTM dudes across the pit from us. Before I knew it, I was up and running again. Thanks, guys!

I used somewhere in the neighborhood of 237 zip ties that I snagged out of my buddies race trailer. Not sure if he was aware. But I think he was pretty generous about it. Dirt bike people are the best.
