Four Strokes banned! (no joke)

I've just received a card in the mail from the OTHG (Over the Hill Gang), our 600+
member, +30 motocross organization in So.Cal.

It states that in our next race (this coming weekend) four strokes will not be allowed, because the track is on Indian land, and the tribal council has made a noise ruling. I can just imagine that council sitting around a table discussing the two vs four stroke issue. More likely, someone put a bug in their ear (maybe one of their kids has a two stroke?) If noise was really the issue, they would have a sound meter at the track, and every four stroke that passed would race. Two strokes put out ten times the pollution of a four stroke, so if the environment was an issue, then (fill in the blank).

Recent gaming laws have allowed the expansion of casinos on Indian land, so the income from the motocross track is no longer required (a mere pittance compared to what the casinos generate)

I could go on and on and say that every dune buggy is a four stroke (ever hear a quiet dune buggy?), almost all street bikes are (and some are loud), all race cars are and plenty of music I hear in So. Cal. would drown out a gaggle of thumpers.

The next thing will be "electric" dirt bikes and noisy, smelly two strokes will be excluded from tracks (along with four strokes).

I also think that it is (fill the blank) judgment by the OTHG to have a race there and effectively turn their backs on many of their members. In subsequent races, there will be animosity that didn't exist before, and they may have to (fill the blank)for not standing up for the "gang".

Hey Holeshot, what's your real name? My buddies are gangstas too!, You might know them, Craig Davis and Mike Horton. They have been trying to get me to join the Gang for quite a while now, but I already belong to Racers Under The Son. My club is more desert oriented, but lately I have been riding the tracks alot and I've been contemplating leaving my wife so that I can ride more! You know, what I mean! :D Any way, (since my wife is sitting next to me ) I just wanted to say that I am a four stroker all the way
and I thought I heard everything till this!
It looks like I'll just have to go to Glen Helen on Sat. instead or maybe one last ride up at Silverwood/Arrowhead while it's still
legal. :)

I don't know Craig or Mike, but that's probably because they're a lot faster than I am.

This whole thing reminds of a song by a rock group (probably from the seventies, I can't remember who), where the lyrics were –

"Please don't Judas me, please don't blacklist me"

I'll probably head up to the cool air of the mountains near Big Bear this weekend and let the (fill the blank) broil at Barona Oaks raceway.

I've heard of RUTS, and I think I've been to your website before. My one and only attempt at desert racing was a dismal failure (only made it past the first check), but I still keep a D37 desert number.

Wow!! The OTHG sounded like a great format for freindly racing. I cannot believe that a group I hear so many good things about would allow some of it's members to be disciminated upon like this. I will definelty have to re-think any future participation with them

Craig Davis is a vet pro and probably one of the fastest in the gang he currently is in second place in the 4-stroke nationals behind spud walters. He won the pro class and open vet class at Elsinore last weekend.
Mike Horton is one of the top experts in the gang. I just got off the phone with Mike, and he said that the gang really didn't know
until just last week that 4strokes werent allowed. The gang is still a great club and I personally think it's still worth joining
I havent seen a club yet that hasen't made their share of mistakes, alot of work goes into preparing a race, let alone putting races on nearly every other week.
Holeshot, I still dont know your real name ,also I'm headed up to silverwood for some trail riding early tomorrow ( be there
by 7 am ) ride till 1 or 2 pm. let me know if you're in.
Thanks,Erik

Hey Holeshot, I'm with you. I have ridden and still have a 2 stroke since 1978 but I enjoy the crap out of my yz400f. I am in No.Ca and one of the local great places to ride for a quickie is an OHV Park way down in a canyon alongside the American River. Housing cannot even be seen from down there yet some ALGORIAN has seen fit to impose a 101db level on all ohv's. Well that puts out any 4 stroke dirt bike that is actually burning fuel. I'll bet I could here a Harley flogging up the mountain road before anyone hears us down in that canyon. What to do???

So Cal Eric:

Those two guys are so fast, they're not even in the same universe as I am.
Sorry, I missed your post, but I only have a computer at work, so I don't get online during evenings and weekends. I went to the Pinnacles area on Sunday.
Everyone is allowed a few mistakes, but I really disagree with what they had to say about Tony Williams in the last newsletter. Maybe one of the members could fill you in on what was said.
I've posted this message on dirtrider.net in the Thumper Central forum, and Tony has replied with his side of the story (under the "four strokes banned..." thread. Click on the link below.

I don't want my "real name" mentioned until the dust has settled (if you read the post, you'll see why). Thanks.

Holeshot, I read the post, and I understand. After this whole thing blows over we'll have to go riding sometime.
