The Port of Shelton recently put up fences at the beginning of the road that stop at the edge of the road. My buddy that works for Mason County says since the county isn't renewing its contract to use the Port property that they are going to put gates up and lock them!

Anyone else know anything about this?

Me personally I like to park just outside of the fairgrounds and ride the single track what I am getting at is if they close down that are then the quad f#gs are going to looking to park elsewhere as well and will turn some of our precious single track into well you know what I mean. . .

I was out by there today and surenuf there is a brand new fence with gates on it about 100 yards off the highway that closes the road off to the pariking area in front of the fairgrounds.

I am not only worried about the quads but the bike riders also that would want to start trespassing on the Green Diamond property and end up getting the whole place shut down for the Puget Sound Enduro Riders. :bonk:

The last thing we need is another closed riding area. Looks like Tahuya will be the place to ride for the winter.

.....add the closure of reiter and now this means huge pressure and traffic at tahuya. not a good thing.

Other than the PSER events, I didn't realize there were any open areas to ride around there...

That is the point. The rest of the trails are on private property and unauthorized riding there would end up ruining it for everyone. Green Diamond has stepped up patrol and you risk fines and trespassing charges if caught riding out there.

So now what? Where are we suppose to ride? That was my favorite place to ride. I really don't like Tahuya, it's always so crowded and now it sounds like it will be worse. All that money we pay for our tabs to ride and there is nothing! There's nothing else close around here except Tahuya! Capitol Forest if you like riding on snot. But even that is closed soon.

I'm sick of this state. Damn liberals will take our money and give us NOTHING in return. They won't even kick us in the teeth unless they could tax us on it.

People are going to get hurt with so many riding in one little area. What may be needed is when someone gets hurt (God forbid) to sue the heck out of the state for not providing adequate riding area's to prevent it.

Ah crap, I'm just so sick of all this.

Please do not make this about democratic and republicans. Let's make it to get involved to keep what we like to do alive! There are democratic union members that have the means to ride and the republican members who own businesses and ride also. THIS IS THE TIME WE NEED TO BAND TOGETHER AND FIGHT THIS. If we are divided now WE WILL ALL LOSE!

The legislators in this state and ALL states listen to money and the squeaky wheel get the grease. They do not care if you are RED or BLUE but it is your vote that counts!

If you are wondering about me, I am just a regular Jo that is a union member, shoots guns, ride bikes and for some words needs a dictionary to spell most the big one's.
PLEASE PLEASE get involved. If 200,000 people just email them and said you are a dumb F--K they would get the hint on both sides.

DON'T WAIT DO IT NOW! it only takes a couple of minutes and tell them SOB's what you think.

I hope people are now starting to wake up. I am no republican but am a big believer in deadlocked politicians. Look at all the damage one party rule causes. So now since Gregoire took over with here uber majority we now essentially have one riding area six months out of the year(I dont count reiter as its too small and crowded as is). Wahoo.

way too late for that.. WE didn't make it a party issue, the politicians and lobbyists DID.. go check the voting records and sponsors of the many off road related issues over the past several years and see how many have a (D) after their name when it comes to issues limiting our sport.

I hate the thought of being a one issue voter (and thankfully, I don't need to be when it comes to this issue) but it's obvious that our elected officials are making it tough not to do so.

Wow Joe don't hold back tell how you really feel!.:smirk:
Just kidding aside I understand where your are coming from. But I live down here in the RED county and a majority of people who offroad that live down here could give a rats a-s that you like to ride a dirt bike on a single track trail. Most enjoy quads, jeeps or just plain driving down a dirt road in their trucks in this area, so be it

ALL polititians are turn coats, throw a Benajamin out there and they will be like crows on road kill. Lobbyist are hired guns to the highest bidder. Please join the NMA to pay the gunslinger. If you believe in Republicans get on the phone and hammer'em. If you believe in Democrats, get on the phone and hammer'em.

All I know is if we continue to beat each other up nobody rides. What we need is for people to go to the Adam Kline, Karen Fraser rallies and hammer'em :bonk:

Too late, the Democrats did that for us.
There are a few rare exceptions like Senator Tim Sheldon and Representative Mike Sell, but for the most party the democrats in Olympia will follow the orders given by their leadership and the democrat party leadership in the Washington State Legislature are beholden to organizations that flat out hate us.

Banding together is good.

Organizations such as the Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance
www.whova.org

and the Blue Ribbon Coalition
www.sharetrails.org

are a great place to start.

Money talks and so do votes, but it is not that simple.

Without the support of their party most legislators are doomed to failure. Just like with gangsters, party loyality comes before all else or your party will throw you under the bus every chance they get. Ask Senator Sheldon yourself.

Regardles of your position on other issues, that fact is that our issues in Olympia are dealt with in a very partisan manner.

The 2010 Legislative session starts in January, join in the process, its a hoot.

I write and call my respective representative and let them know how I feel (in a nice way) about bills. I let them know the pit falls of how they will impact everything from tourism to the mom and pop store on the corner.

Go to the NMA website and DONATE MONEY TO SUPPORT THE LAWSUIT. We have no other way to effectively fight these Communists who want to dictate how we should live.
