ive asked this question before a few times but ive never really received a straight up answer. yesterday, i wrecked my bike (2003 KX 250) and the front tire twisted to the left side. im just curious if something i did when re-assembling my bike could lead to this or what. the fork tubes themselves did not twist, just the legs and the tire. i just dont really understand how this can happen, it seems like the axle would hold everything straight.

Wrecking knocks things out of alignment. Even the factory teams sometimes need to whack the handlebars back into place after a crash.

its hard to visualize, but the part of the forks in the clamps will twist just a little in the clamps, and the axle will twist a little in the clamps on the ends of the forks

That happens everytime you twist a triple clamp (usually the upper clamp). I've twisted many :banghead:

Ditto, a slightly twisted tripple clamp. Try wedging the front wheel into something and pushing the bars the opposite way until things straighten up. Sometimes you have to resort to the tried and true heel kick method to persuade the tripple clamps to behave.

If all else fails, loosen the various bolts, re-align, then re-torque.

Don't forget to recheck the torque on your clamps
