This was suppose to be a post about how we won the 24 hour of Starvation ridge for the 4th time but instead its about losing one our best friends and probably the most talented racers in the northwest. I got word about 2pm or so that our rider on the course was hurt and that it was serious, Jonah street and my self hurried up to he sign up area and Scott from OTBG gave us a ride out to our injured teamate and friend. About 10 minutes after we got there Matt Webb and Kevins new wife Jamie of only four months arrived and soon after Kevin knew she was there he drifted off to a better place. This was the hardest thing I've ever had to write and go thru but I wanted to let everyone know what happened. If anyone wants to talk send me a private message and I'll get back with you. I will keep everyone posted on some fund raising events we are going to do. Thanks to OTBG for there help and support. God bless buddy we miss you and you will always be in our hearts.

Yea, I was out there as well, and it is a tragic deal. Cast a shadow over everything. I even wondered if they would stop the race.

I saw where he crashed. Gnarly little section if it caught you off guard.

I didn't know him either, but I will be praying for his family and friends.

I did not know him personally:(. I know he has WON just about everything here in the northwest. I know alot of people who will be deeply saddened by his passing. My heart and thoughts go out to his family and all who will miss him. He is a great racer from the northwest. He will be remembered for a long time.

Anyone here remember Sean Wilson #131? He was an incredible NMA racer and superb guy that died nearly 10 years ago. I still think about him often and now with Kevin's tragic passing, it really hits me hard. It just reminds me how fragile life can be.

Godspeed Kevin.

My husband is Kevin's cousin. I know nothing about the racing world. I found this forum trying to answer questions for myself. It is so hard to find things out when you are out of State, and not bother the family and make them tell the story one more time. Thank you for your kind words it is neat to learn about this part of his life. I am disappointed that it didn't happen at a happier time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts an memories. Kevin we love you.

That's great you found this site. My condolences for this tragic loss.

It's my understanding there was a rider (MX813 here on ThumperTalk) that was on the scene early & stayed with him.

He'll probably post soon but you can also send him a PM (personal message) here on ThumperTalk.

God bless.

This news really hit home when I got wind of it at the 24 hr race. I was up next for our team and really made me put things into perspective. I know other racers have lost their lives riding the sport we all choose to participate in but never have actually been at one of the events where it has happend. The first 3 miles of the 25 mile loop after hearing of this news was of a slower pace with more in mind then trying to catch the team in front of us. After the first part of the lap, it came to me that Kevin died doing something that he excelled at on a level that 99% of us will never reach. He died doing something that he obviously loved so much. If tomorrow was my day to go I would only hope it would be trying to win a race aboard my motocross bike. Its just extremely sad and upsetting that it had to happen so soon. I have heard the name for a long time but I've always raced motocross and never had a chance to see kevin ride until the webb powersports ride day at toes mx park. I was wide open down the back straight in the deep sand and Kevin passed me like I was tied to a fence post. Being a top intermediate when I was racing, that didn't sit well. I charged and tried to hang with him but there was no way that was happening. That kid was fast. RIP Kevin
