Gifford Pinchot NF, Boundary trail #1, from the Lewis River trail area, trails 80-3-1-263-18. out and back. Anybody want to join us? I am asking a few of my regular riding friends to go. This Sunday. Cloudy, wet, a million wet roots, steep, difficult trails on extremely steep hillsides, wet brush, packed St. Helens ash. Doesn't get any better. Last chance before elk season the next weekend and snow.

Are you parking on the 90 at the 80 Trail? What time. Not sure yet as I am on the north side.....

Might be snow. i was going to head up there yesterday but checked the mountain pass cams and determined there would be a good bit of snow. Rode a similar loop Saturday and it was EPIC conditions. there is a tree down with a work around on 18 if you want to bring a saw but this late in the year I'd be temped to leave it for next year when we can get them all.

Jumbo...

Gee, nobody for sure yet. From the Snotell site,
http://www.wcc.nrcs....washington.html
looks like snow above 3500' east of Spencer. 2"=, 7" in the high lakes area, so the Boundary trail may not be rideable. Still, there is a lower loop possible, if anyone is interested. If I get any takers, we would be at the 80 trailhead on the 90 road at 9:00am, Sunday.

Does look a little iffy for the Boundary Trail unless temps moderate more than the forecast..... 2" is doable but 7" is a lot of work on the steep side hill stuff!

Looks like the snow level is at 8000ft today and lowering from 6000ft to 4000ft on Saturday after midnight. But back up to 5000ft Sunday and it looks like partly sunny also.
If everything works out I would like to join you guys:ride:. I would be coming down from just south of Olympia. I will PM you.

I think your right Tom. The lower loop which you know well should be good but i bet several parts of boundary are near impassable already.

Here are a few picture from Gifford Pinchot today. That new bridge is a work of art and how it was built is something else. Thanks for letting me tag along!

Cool, crisp and a little snow on the trail at the GP on 11-01-2009

We rode Sunrise, Juniper, Dark Meadow to Boundary, Boundary to Table Mtn down to the 90 back up to Council. Over to the Gravel Pit/Babyshoe Pass then 1st half of Squaw Butte (PC E Canyon Creek). Down the 23 back to the truck.

Glad I had grip heaters!

We got right at 50 on our trip

All three mountains -Rainer, Adams and St Helens were stunning with the fresh white snow and the blue sky.

Agree some of the sidehills in the shade were fun and added to the normal experience. One of our group got way off the trail on the west side of Jumbo due to a little sight seeing lack of attention.....

Shooot! Wuz hopin' to get in one more ride there.

We normally ride the Valley Trail, over Blue Lake Ridge, down on 119, pick up 118, and then up the back side of the Yozoo Trail. The bowl area in the Yozoo Trail will definately be sun-shadowed and snowy -- but it's a pretty straight-forward trail with no real exposures.

Hmmmm.... Just one more time... I promise! (grin)

Thanks for the ride report and pics! E-Ticket

I would agree with the current weather forecast -snow level is dropping after Wednesday along with an increase chance of precipitation
