Seriously though, dont worry about brands -- get a machine that you can ride, take care of it and just ride.
How old are you?
How much do you weigh ?
What type of riding do you do?
What problem are you trying to solve by getting a new bike?
How much money do you have?

The KX 100 is esentially the "big" wheel version of the KX 85 with a little more CC's.
My wife is 5' 6" and her TTR125L (16"/19" wheels same size as the 100) is still a little small for her. We put bar risers and taller bars to help.
My point...many times I don't have one:smirk:...is that at 5'9" you should have no problems on a full size bike. You should not have any problems adapting to the power of a 125. You'll just roll the same jumps as you learn the power delivery.

at 5'9 and some decent throttle control you should be able handle a 125 no problem.
Regardless of what brand bike you ride be sure not to skimp on the riding gear. Quality equipment will save your neck even in the smallest of get offs.
Good luck.

Get the RMZ250 if you are a serious racer, have extra money for maintenance and like more usable (but boring) power compared to the 125. If it is just for play riding the 125 will be cheaper to maintain and as you know from your 85, the two stroke power delivery makes the ride exciting. Just don't buy a cheap clapped out 250 4t and then whine when the motor lets go.

Uh, the stock TTR has less suspension travel then the RM85 and I believe it is slower due to how heavy (power/weight ratio) the TTR is.
The TTR would make a fun play bike but it is 50 lbs heavier then a 125 with 3-4 inches less suspension travel and drum rear brake. It does have a kick stand though......

Honestly either would be fine. Throttle, brake, clutch. Same as the 85. Yes, the power is delivered different, but you'd figure it out.

:bonk: No offence, but are you really comparing the TTR with the RM, RMZ, KX? One is in the play bike lineup...the other(s) are in the race bike lineup. Can you guess which is which?

Are you really reving the engine while riding?
If you are, the problem is your jetting. A properly jetted bike will not foul plugs regardless of how hard you twist the throttle.
Here's a link to proper jetting:

Get the bike that suits you and your riding style and experience. In my opinion the 125 would be an excellent bike for you because as you become more experienced you'll learn to get the power you need out of it. It isn't as powerful as a 250, but in the hands of an experienced rider it will even give the 450's a run for their money. It's also cheaper to maintain.
God luck

that would be a step down in everything except size. i think the OP wants to do track, that would not be the bike to have on the track...

i guess you dont get it. do i need to be a dick to get the point across? go read my post on the first page.
in addition to everything i said there, the bike size has nothing to do with fouling plugs, nothing....
