Hey guys,

Idea: Should we have a "Reiter Action" thread where we can all share ideas to put into action?

Lots of great suggestions on the "Reiter update from the DNR" thread:

http://www.thumperta...ad.php?t=833689

But, perhaps we could have a separate running thread on things to do, how to work together, etc.

Note: this thread is NOT for complaining about each other, or blaming specific user groups. That's been covered in excruciating detail many times already, so its counter productive to continue to review it at this point.

Note x2: If you're not happy about the past, more recent events, what's happening now, or what may happen in the future, we really don't need to hear about it here. Don't post those things in this thread. If you must do that, start your own thread.

What we need to hear about are specific things we can do to make the Reiter Foothills ORV park the best facility it can be for all of the designated recreational users.

Lastly, I'm looking for feedback and input on this idea, but more importantly, a running dialog on things to do.

Let me know what you think.

Ed Boyd

Admins, please don't make this a sticky for the time being as sticky threads seem to lose some of their visibility over time. Hopefully we can keep this thread visible by posting the latest ideas and comments. Thanks.

AGREE WITH ALL YOU HAVE SAID HERE.
I think we need to get a list from David of the main things he would like to see addressed. Talked to him in the past about bridges and we are still in the air about the were and when, but lets get alist we can work off of.

Great idea.

Can we designate a single point of contact, or a couple of contacts, with David and Candace? If this has not already been done?

It might be easier for all of us and for them to have a working contact or two for these work and action item things vs a bunch of random people pinging them.

And not saying folks should not contact them with comments, suggestions, frustrations, kudos, whatever, just looking for a way to streamline communications around action items. Please do keep contacting them directly with comments.

I know Tod has been actively involved with them and a number of the folks from RTW have too.

Thoughts?

What about the HOW on the bridges. They seem to spend WAY too much on these, at least for the two wheeled users. From what I've seen, they could blow the major share of the funds on a couple of wood / concrete structures with the engineering and construction. I'm sure they have their reasons, but some prefab one piece aluminum units that could be staked and cabled into place and ultimately moved would be ideal for us single track guys.

RTW does have a point of contact and someone who has been involved with getting ideas together so far for the 4x4 and multi-use trail plan. We can only work on "Restoration" projects at the moment until the ORV Trail Plan has been designed and aproved. RTW has a meeting Nov. 11th at 7pm @ Alfy's Pizza in Snohomish. We typically have David Way attend in order to get updated on what is needed. I will verify that he will be in attendance and ask him if we have any projects needed done before then.

Thanks for starting this thread. :ride:

How do we get involved in the ORV trail planning effort? How do we ensure that our comments are analyzed and solutions brought forth?

In the past, some DNR bridges were drastically overbuilt because approved engineering already existed. They saw it as a cost savings.

Rick Rice is our MC interest on the Reiter Planning Committee. He has been influential in working with our state Reps and DNR.

2WheelsRick@gmail.com

Rick has been providing status to the NMA and through our Stumpjumpers mailing list since 2005. However, there are probably a lot of you that don't receive those updates and I have suggested to Rick he produce a document to provide the history as well as current day information that can be provided to the public (I will be posting that on the SJMC web site as well as here when available). There are a lot facts missing from the discussions regarding Reiter, and before any action is taken we should know everything we can on the matter.

does anyone have the contact info for the 4x4 and quad users committee members?

I remember a year ago gregoire toured the reiter riding area and commented on how she needed to find a way to shut it down. I am wondering who is really behind all this
