Does this mean if someone goes to a CA dealer now and tries to buy any one of the new 2009 Husky TE250/310/450/510s there is no guarantee that California DMV will register and plate these bikes for the street any longer? Or, you pay to get it registerd, and then they pull your street license plate and hand you a green sticker instead.

I was heading to a Husky dealer in the morning to seriously considering buying one soon. Say it isn't so... GEEZE, this is ridiculous.

If I remember correctly, I saw this story a little while ago. I think what it had to with was the fact that some of the emissions stuff was removed from the bikes at the dealer, in which case would not make them street legal bikes. As long as the dealer you are going to keeps all the smog stuff on, especially when you go to the DMV, you should be good to go. Obviously I am paraphrasing quite a bit, but some one had posted this article in here a little while ago, and I believe it was from something that had happened a couple of years ago. It just seems to keep resurfacing.

There seem to be several new postings and published dates with articles on websites dated 1st week of October 2009. Possibly some kind of update due to the public response from GP Cycles.

Wow everytime I read articles like this I thank God I don't live in Kalifornistan, what a ridiculous bunch of nonsense and wasted tax payer money all so the greenie weenies can get a couple dirt bikes that the moronic DMV registered off the streets. Dirt bikes that polute less than most cars do these days.....

LOL - never heard Kalifornistan before. Some pretty stupid stuff going on here - but still plenty of reasons to stay and enjoy it.
License plates on the TEs open up all kinds of places in CA - including the green-sticker areas.

But remember.....the Caliban DMV officials state that "Smog can damage lungs, cause coughing and chest tightness, and worsen asthma symptoms while also affecting crop yields." How dare we selfish dirt bikers want to even think of riding a few miles on the street. What about the planet? Think of the children. We need to reduce our carbon footprint and embrace all that the government tells us. If the Ca mullahs decree it, then it must be true...

Kalifornistan....that's funny. IME (as one of the CA pessants), the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia (PRK) is a more apt analogy. :busted:

The CA smog-nazi thing gets more unbearable every day. The 2004 're interpretation of existing regulations' (their words from their press release decrees) that effectively ended the 'plating' of dirt bikes was a low point....as the 'smog check two' nonsense was for older cars... :banghead:

I especialy enjoyed how the DMV pollitical officer stated that they learned from "an anonomous source" (ONE OF THE 'EVIL' DEALERSHIPS).

So we have Commiefornia, Kalifornistan and Caliban? How many more can we come up with?

I live in the Peoples Republic of Washington State and we aren't far behind the exhaust sniffing panty waists of CARB.

I believe this was only for the 2004-5 models. Any newer model should have a CARB certification decal on the frame.

Laugh it up while you can my brother. The CA politicians and their cronies are gonna make sure that the rest of the country follows the People's Republic of Kalifornia... :bonk:

Just wait 'til you get to 'live the dream' like we do... :moon:

As far as i know all new TE's are legal in all states and plated. Have been foir a few year.

the issue was dealers putting plates on bikes not factory certified. The funny thing is the DMV and CARB gave them the plates. :banghead:
