Anyone Here have any experience with either or both of these silencers on a 06-08 RM250? Ready to pull the trigger, just having problems choosing a target. Thanks!

I have the Q stealth on my RM and to be honest its not near as quite as I thought (or hoped) it would be. Its structurally tough as nails because I bounced mine off of a huge boulder and it held up great. Dont know much about the PC and Im happy with my FMF but just wished it brought the db's down a bit more.

That's what I'm worried about. When I ride with my friend on his 98 CR250 (both his and my bike have FMF shortys but his has never being repacked and mine was repacked a week ago) I am still quite a bit louder. Anyone else chime in?

BBA, what year is your RM?

I`ve got an 05. I bought the Q (not the stealth) and niether my son or I could tell that it was any quieter. I actually told him I thought the stocker was quieter. But it`s USFS approved.

Not sure how you can say there was not much difference, the Stealth on my YZ is night a day different over the stock and quieter than the standard Q that i had, and power was improved over the standard Q. The biggest thing i noticed was the expansion chamber/airbox noise was much more noticeable. I put a FMF Gnarly pipe on it and it got much quieter from the expansion chamber(thicker metal) and now notice more noise from the airbox. IMHO the Gnarly and Stealth are a great combo for noise reduction

That's one of the things that I have noticed is that the few RM owners that have reported on the stealth seem to be typically unimpressed where as the YZ owners are seeing great results. It surprises me that companies such as FMF don't have some solid tests and figures to back up their products as this would take some of the guesswork out of the purchase. If your going to charge more for a silencer due to the fact that it is supposed to be quieter then why not back the product up with some hard data? I've searched you tube and google videos for an RM250 with either silencer but have come up empty.

yathump,

Did you find that you needed to rejet with the Stealth?

I've noticed that PC does a much better job with their pipes and each silencer is different.

Just played with the airscrew some the Stealth seems to run less restricted than the standard Q, just doesn't have the seat of the pants choked out feel. Yeah there is not alot of info on DB's out there i believe the DB snorkel site show some comparisons from different silencers including the Stealth, with the Snorkel added to the Stealth there was a very minimal difference between without

http://www.thumperta...kel+fmf+stealth

Heres a thread with a link to the DB Snorkel site where they talk about the Stealth with the Snorkel

I guess I can say that because after taking the FMF Powercore off of my 04 RM250 and paying what I think is a pretty steep price for the Stealth in hopes of bringing the db's down to help with noise I was not all that impressed and could not tell any significant difference in a lower tone or performance. Like I said, its constructed like a tank but thats not what I was buying the stealth for, I wanted a quiter exhaust!

AuroraRob ask an important question for a silencer thats supposed to be the "it" when it comes to eco friendly exhaust for two strokes but I feel it does not bring the two stroke down to a acceptable level in ALOT of places to ride where noise is a big factor. Just my opinion and I could be wrong:excuseme:

Interesting, i know it works well on my YZ not sure why it would be different on the RM, mine is quieter and seems to have a different tone when compared to other YZ's with or without the Stealth. I also noticed a difference in tone after adding a 3mm pipe spacer in the exhaust

Not wanting to argue just interested in the different opinions

No worries yathump just giving my opinion in the matter. I feel the "stealth" & "quite" pipes coming out now are like the DOT sound approved race mufflers for cars such as FlowMaster.

Just because someone from a company or magazine claims that these silencers are the national standard for sound levels and it works at race parks it doesn't fly when it comes to neighbors calling the cops because all of the buzzing going on behind their house from our motorcycles. I would give up a little performance for a >real< quite exhaust. I know the Snorkel is an option but I think I would kill that thing in no time with the way its hanging down. I know that the KTM factory silencers are pretty quite and have thought about making one work on my RM.

Well, I ordered the Stealth today from TT's online parts shop. I'm going to see if a local stereo shop would mind doing a DB test before and after. If I can then I will report my findings here. Thanks for all the help and input!

Not sure if there is such an exhaust for this, that is asking alot out a MX bike
Is there anything out there that will combat that, if they're just against bikes period they will still find something to complain about

Cool, Wondering on the db reading if when the Stealth went on(my bike atleast) the noise out the exhuast was reduced significantly, but the extra engine and expansion chamber noise seemed largely increased, wondering if the other noise is gonna play a part and affect the reading some. The precieved noise is lower in my opinion and gets lower with a thicker pipe, if they could do checks in various spot around the bike before and after and at different distances would be cool, not sure if they'd be up for that though

Looking forward to your findings

I've had a few bikes that seemed to be little more steathy than my RM wth the FMF Q stealth (I've been running a SST pipe with it until now). My 98 KTM SX250 with stock exhaust was really quite, my 96 CR250 with stock & my 02 CR250 with a PC works with a 304 which does not make much since.

All Im trying to say to anyone who wants a more quite exhaust than what they are running now is to check someone elses out with a supposed sound friendly exhaust to make sure its worth spending the money on. Aurorarob I look forward to your test & thoughts on the Stealth:thumbsup:
