Hey all,
I have a 08 TE450. My bro had an off and broke the shroud around the fan. I have done a dodgy on it because the new fan costs around $200 AUD. Are there any alternatives. I've looked at the computer style but I don't think they could handle the temperature.

Thanks
Stu

Check for the manufacturer's sticker. I think you can order them directly.
Also, what about a used KTM fan?

Check the size in mm and then go buy a 12v computer fan in the same dimensions. Worth a shot - Delta makes pretty solid ones that should handle the heat and they're far less than $200AUD.

I bought one for $80 US dollars from an outfit in the mid-west. Sorry, the name eludes me but I'll post it later today.

"Sidewinder" sells and has good advice on cpu fan usage for motorcycles. They recommend delta fans as being the toughest for motorcycle use. I have had no problems using them. Also they have very high flow ones which is what i normally use.

Believe it or not I have seen totally waterproof CPU fans for sale..LOL. Anyway I don't think they are necessary.

SPAL also sells a suitable fan, the same one KTM uses I think.

Would a 610 husky fan work? Many people post that they are not necessary on the 610's and they remove them. Perhaps one of them could be available for a very reasonable price? Check Cafe Husky and Supermotojunkie.

This is the fan I put on my 2007te450. I'm told it is an exact replacement of OEM but because my bike didn't come with a fan, as some did, I did'nt have one to compare.

That looks like the one I had on my 08TE250. Exactly the same.

How did you mount it? Could you snap a pic?

I made a bracket and frankly it was a PITA because it had to be incorporated into radiator braces I was making at the same time. ( I'm anal ..... had to be JUST right .... so the pain was self inflicted).:smirk:

If your not running aftermarket radiator braces, .... something that wraps around to the backside of the rad. which would interfere with fan placement, the good news is, since the fans exactly as stock all you'll have to do is buy the Husky OEM mount bracket. From the parts fitche, they look to be small, simple and light guage, so they prolly don't cost much. I just had to have radiator crash protection too .... braces, not just light weight front guards
