depending on what the previous owner did, the wrong clutch lever or perch will change the mechanical advantage which would make it hard to pull.
But it could be the cable is jammed or a problem with the clutch.
So, the first thing I'd do is have a real good look at the clutch lever and perch. If something looks wrong - like it doesn't line up correctly, plan to get a new one. I'd buy one off eBay before going to Suzuki. If you can't find one, Motion Pro.
Next check the cable, it should move freely when it's disconnected, if it's difficult, replace that too. Again, I like Motion Pro.
If the above two are right, there could be aftermarket stiffer clutch springs in the clutch but you'd need special equipment to check it. Perhaps if there's a bike shop you've dealt with for while, they'll check this for you. Ask them if it's easier for them to get the whole bike or just the springs. If they disassemble it and check it, you're looking at least 1 hour labor. So I'd keep my fingers crossed it's the cable or perch/lever.
