re: Bigcoopdogs comment below.... oops, I didn't think of it that way. I was just posting of a Baja related person at something that has, like you hinted, nothing to do with Baja. Kinda like a few recent threads such as the Tim Staab or Quinn Cody threads.
If I could move it to "off-road" or can it, I would, but it won't let me.

Maybe its just me, but what does this have to do with Baja :excuseme:

Is the post for advertising? General awareness of BBM or what?

Seems we have a hall monitor among us, thanks for looking out for us but I find Chillys ride pretty interesting.

I think more as baja related people. Who cares, it's all good. My problem with it was that it took a long time for the pictures to download so I had to give up. Damn work internet! :banghead:

A Baja dude with BBM shroud graphics all the way over in Portugal competing in the Olympics of off-road motorcycle racing. Pretty damn cool and relevant if you ask me.

Exactly, it's pretty awesome that one of the Baja Dudes is representing!

Anyway...I thought BigcoopDawg was done with Baja after the Martz incident, correct me if I am wrong.

Tim, that's awesome that your name is out there. ISDE in Mexico next year?

Relevance is definitely not everyone's "focus" here in the "Baja" threads.
... not anymore anyway. Or not enough. It's the reason there's "categorys" on TT. If not... can you imagine?!

More or less, there's some great posts that are completely irrelevant. However, some of the irrelevant posts get deleted, locked, moved, or just plainly squished. And this happens whether the post is lame, or good info. At times, a pattern is formed.

... fair is fair, but everyone will have an opinion or be able to find some kind of relevance. Like my my buddies mom is about 10% Portuguese, and I like the ride... so it's close enough.

Maybe the way to think about this post is that... The people relevant to that ride would be people who live in that part of the country AND would love to see the pics too. So posting it in the correct sub-forum would benefit not only them, but be "on topic" and "relevant".

Sadly, you can't post the same topic across multiple forums... it's against TT rules. So, it looks like this topic was posted as best BBM knew how to post. It's always the moderators call to move... or regulate. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Hi Tim,

I’d call Miguel 5 minutes ago, he’s in Figueira da Foz with Ray and Alex and they saw Chilly this morning at the special on the beach!!!

Unfortunately no photos…

I think Tim is Baja relevent regardless of where he is at. He's earned that.

What I find interesting is that there is a rekluse clutch on that bike. Tim is anyone running trials tires?

Portugal is definitely not the place for trials tires... lost of sand:

Chilly addresses the Rekluse clutch here:

No trials tires. Tires have to be FIM legal. Basically that means tires any of us regularly use aren't legal.
His bike build makes sense for what he's trying to accomplish. I've read a few posts from guys saying he should use an R cam or this or that, but have those people ever finished a 6-Days? No.
Chilly built the bike to be easy to ride for all the days. It aint his 1st rodeo. It is his first Honda he's raced.
So the Rekluse just makes it easier to ride for long technical periods and helps eliminate stalling. Maybe not the best for the tons of sand they've had so far, but they've only done 2 days and it's supposed to get more hard-pack and rocky, that's what he's looking for.
Maybe an R cam would have been better for the sandy special tests so far, but if it does get more technical, he's set up for that.

Chest cam? Not sure, a little dizzying, but an interesting perspective from Chilly on a special test:

I only got to spend one day spectating and part of that was finding the course once they left impound. Once we did it was like nothing I've seen in lots of race spectating. Saw a special 'moto' type special test, then checked out one of the three outside support pits, got to see Caselli come in and get pitted - way different from Baja because as long he was on time he had around 10 minutes to hang out - cool! I also saw them coming down one of the gnarliest hills (read cliffs) that I have ever seen ridden - and I have personally been involved in the Tecate Enduro layout since the '80s, so I have seen a few gnarly spots. We got back down to the beach to watch the final special of the day. After the first hour 150 bikes had been through and they still had 450 more to go - wow!

All in all quite a day of motos and my first at an ISDE. I am already planning for an entire week at the 2010 ISDE in Morelia, Mexico - yeah I know it's not Baja, but at least it's the same country!:ride:
