What years were the 650L made and are they all the same?
I see mention of 09 and 10 models but I cant see anything that newer than my 02 in Australia. Honda's local sites only list a XR400,XL700 Transalp and XL1000 Varadero.

What years were the 650L made and are they all the same?

The XR650L was introduced in 1993, I have one of the first ones made (frame #1123) They remain basically unchanged except for the suspension, I think around 1995-96 they changed the rear suspension to lower the seat height, and, of course, the usual plastic color changes over the years.

And can you still buy them new in the US?

If I remember right from an old thread, the Aussies stopped seeing new XRL650's in 2002.

Yes ,I was told the same thing,mine is a late 01 and sold in 02,
