I have been wanting to get a plastic tank for my XRL
and want white but what I 've seen in white leaves a lot
to be desired the ones with even a short amount of
use and sun exposure are dingy beige to yellowish.
Is this how it is going to be for all the major brands
if so red will be the color I'll go with.

White ones do seem to show more scratches and stuff.

Ive got a white IMS, "natural", and red clark. I think the clark is the prettiest and seems to be well made. The natural is nice as you can see the fuel level, but it still yellows pretty good. The bike was originally skinned leaving a small area that was visible for the fuel level. That seemed to look best for white or natural tanks.

my white Clarke 4.0 has stayed nice for a year so far...Softscrub w/bleach cleans it up nicely...sum have even reported that they have been able to whiten yellowed tanks w/ the stuff.

the new Clarke tank replaced a badly yellowed IMS installed by the PO which i believe he bought used...i did notice sumthin interesting when i removed the petcock from the yellowed IMS, the plastic under the petcock is still white :excuseme:

this leads me to believe much to the discoloration is due to surface staining...also have u noticed fuel available currently is almost colorless compared to years ago :smirk:

white just looks better w/ my color scheme(yes, i'm a poser) so my hope is i can keep the new one look'n gud for a few years

Arent we all posers :ride: otherwise we'd ride roached out beaters with grungy, faded, hacked up old plastic that we found on the side of the trail.

I just replaced the White IMS 4 gallon tank on my X4 with a Clarke clear so I could see the gas level. The IMS still looked fair after 5 years of hard use. I don't know the brand of tank on the X6. It's White also and has held up well, it has to be at least 6 to 10 years old. I took off the graphics and the color was about the same onder them, but no scratchs.
