DRZ 400 starter clutch gear

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is where i am at the mo. I have a GasGas 400FSE 2002 and recently the

starter clutch bolts came loose within the flywheel and caused me a big headache. Flywheel and magneto windings and starter clutch bearing wrecked big style. Thankfully i have source a flywheel and magneto dirt cheap. However a starter clutch bearing is going to set me back 200 quid sterling.

After looking at the DRZ engine parts i found that i can make the starter clutch bearing fit and have sourced one for next to nothing.:busted:

I have machined the GasGas retaining ring so the starter clutch bearing slides in nice. (I also have a spare). All i need now is the exact diameter of the spigot/boss on the DRZ flywheel cog so i can machine a ring to fit the GasGas Flywheel cog as the GasGas is smaller. Hence save a shit load of dosh on an old bike.

Anyone got one to hand with a micrometer:thumbsup:

Cheers Guys

PM Eddie Sisernos, give him a link to this thread. If anyone has that info, he will.

I know it is old topic (from 2009) but anyhow I will try!

I also have 2003 GasGas FSE400 Supermotard and unfortunately same thing happened to me (lose bolt, wrecked starter clutch,el.windings...) I need more details about DRZ400 starter clutch fitment( I can get complete DR-Z400 Spraq Type Starter Clutch for 140$ and just starter clutch original for my Gasgas is crazy priced over 500$)Please, let me know what exactly need to be machined to ensure proper fit? Any picture, mesurements or anything else to help will be greatly appreciated THANKS,

I just receive Complete DRZ 400 Sprag clutch setup, it even came with DRZ flywheel cog and bearing, all brand new and for few bucks over 100$! :goofy: What a price difference!!

With my old parts from GasGas and new one from DRZ I can see now what exactly need to be machined to make this conversion. I will post some pictures and report when is done ... Cheers,
