I have a 07 S. I have done the 3x3 mod. with a JD jet kit 160 main 25 pilot blue needle on the fourth clip, opened up the end cap on the muffler, auto decomp removed, MCCT, 14 tooth front sprocket, and I just put on a Clark 3.9. My bike has kind of been a dog since day one I must say I have been a little dissapointed. I did not really notice any power gain after the 3x3 just worse mpg. my problem is not only the what I think is lack of power but it sound like my piston is going to come up and go through my tank. It is not all the time just when i throttle into it. It started in just the high gears and seems to be getting worse and will now do it in the lower gears. It runs fine crusing around town but if i get into it a little bit the sound sends chills up my spine. I have ran 92 octane in it since day one. PLEASE HELP!!!

your runing to ritch for the pipe modds you have

so now you have a build up of carbon in the combution camber

this has razed the comp. making detanation do loud you can hear it

ether that or ---- your cam timing is off one tooth and the piston is hitting the valve

Have you checked your valves lately, cam caps for tightness, adjusted the MCCT, checked your drive chain for tightness, stator/starter bolts and primary gear for correct tightness? My bike just started pinging after I did the 3x3 and rejet but only in top gear, under light load and heavy throttle. Hope some one chimes in soon, your problem and mine might be realted. :banghead:

I fixed all my detnation issues with a set of "E" cams that have more over-lap than the S/SM cams

this loweres the stadick comp.

I was thinking of going back to the stock jetting and seeing what that did.

From what I have read before, opening the stock exhaust tip does nothing except make more noise.

Stock jetting is said to be lean for the stock engine. Opening up the airbox theoretically leans out the mixture even more, so I would suspect that going back to the stock jets would be a bad idea.

Checking the cam timing is not hard: take off the head cover, set the engine to top dead center (TDC), and check if the arrows on the cam gears line up (I believe).

Donny, definitely you don't want to put the stock jet, (#142 I think), back in the carb with that airbox opened up with the 3"X3", even with the stock exhaust.
