So i am going to convert my E model to a street legal bike...It's a 2001 i was wanting to know if there is a bulb that i can use for the headlight so i don't have to buy a whole new assembly. My first thought would be that an S model bulb would work? i just need a Hi/Low beam headlight so it'll be legal. Thanks to all who respond!

your E has a hi/lo bulb, It is only using high at this time. The light pattern is poor at best for on road use at night. I like the buell headlight mod because it's priced at $116.00 including bulbs for a new unit.

It depends on what design you have. My 02 E had the Japanese setup with a really weird bulb. I paid 50 bucks and bought the old ktm light so i could use the standard h4 bulb.

If its the plastic lens anything over 35W will melt it. Wheeling cycle supply has the glass E lens and you can run a 55w bulb without melting anything. Last I heard he had Jap spec E shrouds that looks just like the new S and SM shrouds but that fit the smaller E glass.

Other than that you have to go off the board for something exotic.

I dunno, I like the S look and it lights up the road fine. I might go to and 80/100 bulb and see how many people bright me.
