Hi All, I Was Riding Down The Freeway Today About 70 Mph All Of A Sudden Bike Started Popping And Lost Most Of Its Power I Could Only Use 1/4 Of The Throttel Otherwise It Would Just Lose Power And Start Poping Like Mad It Was Almost Like It Was Getting Some Fuel And Then None And Then A Bit, Then None(kangerooing)

Thanks For Any Advise

Think back a bit. What did you do to (or with) the bike right before this happened? Stop for gas? Fool around with the carb? Etc.

Symptoms sound like a pinched off vacume line that runs from the petcock. It's the small one that makes a vertical "U-turn" right behind the petcock. Make sure it is not pinched off. Thus the suggestion to switch to "PRIme" so that it could possibly run without the line.

Another suggestion, would be to check the larger vent tube that goes from the carb down the left side. I plugged mine while installing a catch-can, and it had similar results, as the carb's plunger could not move.

Just make sure all the hoses did not get pinched in the black flexible wrap-clamps that hold them in place that go down to vent in front of the swing arm.

Check the simple stuff first.

I'd have a guess at water contamination, drain your tank, get a gallon from somewhere else and try that.

Same thing happened to my DRZ some time back. It was my stator. I must have cleaned my carb about half a dozen times to no avail. Mine would start and from 0-1/4 throttle it would pop and backfire like crazy.

Same here, bike was backfiring and popping like mad, die and run for awhile and die again when my stator went.
Check your voltage at battery with bike running, you should have between 13 to 14 volts.

THANKS FOR ANY ADVISE

Water in the fuse box???

There is only one fuse, it is an ATO style,,, and not very susceptible to issues with water.. Secondly...It is the main power fuse,,, should have been other issues if that fuse was corroded to the point your having ignition problems.

third... Why did they change the stator??? What led the shop to believe it was bad??

Ohh, what the heck,, disregard all.. You took it to a shop,,, they did stuff, told you it was the fuse, you asked a question...
To answer directly. No it’s not a common fault,,, I pressure wash my bike after every ride. I have had my bike under water in creek crossings up to the seat…, found the bottom on silt filled ponds up to the seat.. Never had an issue with the one single fuse being wet and causing a problem.
