Hey all. I noticed the other day my "off" position on my petcock still has a steady drip. My tank is full but I am always taking it off and on for various reasons and its making a huge mess and leaking. Right now its on the bike so it's not a problem but has anyone opened up the petcock and know if its rebuildable like an O-ring replacement or something? I would like to get the stuff so I can fix it and since I have a full tank now I can't just take it apart to look.

So if anyone can tell me the parts required I can have them on hand and will swap it out quick when its low enough to slosh the fuel to one side.

I'm hoping I can just get hardware store parts.

Thanks in advance.

you can take the screws out and mine had a leak on the oring on the handle part of petcock, i did a quick fix of putting a little thread tape behind it to make diameter larger and its held fine for 6 months now. Ill bet your flat rubber piece with the holes in it has rotated a little and if you take apart you can fix it, lube the orings/rubber when dry of fuel with a little dielectric grease if you have some and put back together, should help you out from buying another whole petcock as i dont think you can buy individual parts for stock petcock on the R.

On my 07 X, the flat rubber piece with the holes in it had a slight gouge which allowed me to run all day with the petcock in the off position. Bright side was no more "Turn the gas on, Dummy!" jeers :)

Searched and searched, but no luck on locating just the flat rubber piece with the holes in it.

I did try some Permatex on the flat rubber piece with the holes in it, but it just got ugly/messy, and what I really wanted was a working, reliable petcock.

$32 later, I had a new petcock assembly from the local shop.

Does anyone know of other bikes that use the same/similar petcocks. Because Honda sells the Dial seal for other bikes and they "Look" the same. http://www.google.co...=title&resnum=1 But I don't want to spend $10 to find out the size is wrong.

Try Honda part number 16955-268-020. It has done the trick, and no longer leaking.
