:ride: Hey All, so i've been noticing much ticking from the valves recently....i did a valve adjustment and that did not get rid of the noise. just tonight i decided to investigate more and noticed that if i press on the decomp on the left side of the engine that the noise is suppressed a little bit. (i also applied a small amount of pressure to the decomp lever up top and that also quieted the ticking down) So I jump on the 'ol TT website and do some research. i'm getting mixed results, and its just confusing me. :bonk:

1. when i do the valve adjust i do listen for the click? and then continue on with the adjustment....
2. i've also read that the autodecomp goes bad and can also be the culprit.

If anybody could clarify what i need to do to get my bike back to purring like a kitten i would really appreciate it.:worthy: Thanks!

i read through the procedure on the FAQ page and i'm doing the valve adjust right, but maybe i'll do it again and just check and re-check my work. but any input would be great. one of my first thoughts that i had help discovering was that it may have been the oil pump making the noise, but now that i fiddled with the decomp, i know for sure that it is not that. has to be something with the valves or the decomp

yes sir i am. when i rotate the engine to get at TDC, the auto decomp clicks about an inch from the "T" mark when i'm lining it all up.

Rotating the crank the wrong way for TDC gets the decomp tick thing.
I'm not 100% sure wich way though,i think it must be rotated anti clockwise dude to stop the ticking.
