like a reeeeally distant third cousin.
I came upon a '09 KTM 300 Xcw w/ 74 miles, EE light kit, frame guards, EE bark busters and best of all a street legal Michigan Title. THe poor guy suffers from 3 vertebrae giving him problems in his neck and he just can't ride off road anymore. He's owned two other KTM 300's and got this one thinking he would be able to continue to ride, but after hitting those 74 miles of trails came to the conclusion that he was done with trail riding and will stick to road bikes. I'm getting it for $5800:banana: Who could pass that up??? I'm picking it up next week.

I've been eyeballing one at the dealership lately and the salesman said the best he could do with a new one was $7400:eek: No way Jose', this puppy just needs a softer seat and probably springs for my hefty, er I mean manly weight and a pipe guard.

My problem is that I'm recovering from hernia surgery last week and still in a hell of a lot of pain and probably won't even get to ride it for about 4 weeks at best. I can't wait. This thing is so freaking light feeling, of course after riding a "L", most everything else that's dirt worthy feels light in comparison.

I'm not getting rid of the pig at this time, I went through a lot to get her where she is today and I love her for those long DS club rides and commutes within 20-30 miles.

Here she is, flashy bitch ain't she?

I really do love the XR, that's why I'm not getting rid of it. Once I started reading about these 300xcw's, and reading about people that owned them, I got bit by the orange bug. Who knows, if I have to get rid of one in hard times, the KTm would probably be first to go. Let's hope that it doesn't come down to that next year.

Yeah, I don't feel the area with the mesh right now, but the 4" gash of an incision has been quite painful and my right nut is back to imitating a baked potato. The vicodine they gave me didn't do a damn thing. But the new script is definitely making the pain not so bad. I tried to go to work today, but found that my stomach has swelled up and I couldn't button my pants. I weighed 231#s just before surgery and by Sunday, I weighed 239#s, I'm almost 99% sure that half that weight is in my testicle:eek:

I'll still be on the piggy forum. I really do still love the L, it's such a great all around bike. If you can own only one bike, it is the one to get. Right now, I'm just kind of feeling my way in the orange forum. Trying to figure out what I NEED to do to make it work for me. Springs seem to be on the short list. So far, I find that the XR650 part of TT is the best one of them all. It seems to have the most people with the best sense of humor, knowledge and willing to share. That's no joke. Questions get answered quickly, even over at ADV.com, the XRL part of the site seems to get the most action of them all.

I wasn't going to move on anything until late winter or early spring next year, but when this deal came up for the price and considering all the stuff that's been done, I just couldn't pass it up. $5800 is way off from what the dealer was going to do for me, plus it's already street legal with hand protection.

My buddy makes fun of me all the time. Back in the Bimmer days you could register in the club what you were into if a travelling club members looked you up. It was a book and if you were in some far off city you could check it and somebody would be willing to meet for coffee and conversation, on up to crash at my house and use my shop to fix your gear. Anyway he kids me all the time and calls me coffee and conversation. I have to say I enjoy the XR forum and there might be some truth to what he is saying. All hung over the other morning I was telling a different buddy we should just skip the ride,go to breakfast, and talk about all the other great rides. He was hung over too and told me what a puss I am. I went on the ride and watched him fill his helmet with vomit. More good conversation. He actually got the helmet off in time. Save those pain killers for recreation they are more fun when your not in pain.

Unless you like to do a lot of miles that XR is going to get lonely. Lets just say the KTM isn't a couch like the XR.

Why, you gonna come over and steal my pumpkin????:smirk:

Here she is, still on the tailer. Shortly before taking her for a juant around the neighborhood only to find that it doesn't idle for crap and it feels like it's holding back, trying to trick me into giving it more thorttle only to buck me off when it catches. I decided to put it away and do some light reading on the issue. I'd hate to loop it without ever hitting a trail.

I can't get over how light, skinny and easy to manuever this thing is. It's like riding a mountain bike.

To find out how close you are to us to see if you wanted to come riding =]

Check the power valve, it may be turned in quite aways. If it's like my 380 it came with a yellow spring and the PO had it turned 3/4 of the way in and had a crazy hit. Try backing it all the way out first and if it you're still not happy you should try the red spring.

Probably needs a rejet on top of the PV

The prior owner hasn't touched it at all. He didn't even know that there was a wrench that's used to turn it. that I can't even think about trail riding for 3 more weeks at the earliest. I had hernia surgery a week ago and my rt nut is the size of a baked potato right now......as well as black and blue. Too much info????

I'm in Kent County. I'm no speed demon, I'll be up front about that. I do fine in the wider stuff, but slow down in the tight twisty stuff. I'm skeered of trees. well not so much the trees, but the pain that comes with it.

Once I get the jetting done and it's running right, I'll probably take it on the trails. If I'm feeling better by Oct 10th, there's a GLDS club ride in St Helens that would be awsome on this machine. It's not even broke in yet.
